No, because you didn't answer my question.

At the very least can you accept the idea that people are going to "this" and "QFT" anyway and the presence of a "like" button would reduce these considering people don't have to requote, this etc...?

Why do you need to show that you agree with someone?

Have you learned nothing from being banned? Shut up if you're not going to contribute anything. Anyone can make snide comments from the corner while the adults talk. If you want to discuss, discuss. If not, leave.

Also, you're ideas are baseless and have no reasoning behind them whatsoever. Mine do.

If that's what constitutes annoying spam that interrupts your viewing of a thread, then you need to learn some self control and ignore that little bit of size 12 font blue text.

have infected this thread, and, thus, I cannot participate in this discussion when such imbecilic and blatantly idiotic statements are to be made.

OT (might as well): Yeah, this would probably happen often, providing we enact some sort of hide feature for the like system, which I'm against, even if it hasn't been suggested.

I'm... I'm sorry guys. I have to leave. I simply can't take this thread seriously anymore.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I'm sorry that people disagreed with your opinion, I truly, truly am.

Please excuse me while I stand over here and laugh my ass off. That is single handedly one of the most arrogant statements I have ever heard.

OT: YouTube comments are supposed to be for discussion or feedback, otherwise they wouldn't be there. What purpose would a statement about the video serve? No one cares what someone says about the video if it doesn't attack someone else's views.

If you disagree with someone on a particular topic, and most people don't agree with your view, would you want your opinion to be buried/ignored because it doesn't have enough "likes"? Well, let me answer for you; Of course you don't. You want your voice heard, such is the human condition. Eventually this is what Bnet will be degraded to if this like system was implemented. Don't believe me? Go look at Reddit/YouTube/343/any other forum with this...
The point of a Youtube comment is, in fact to discuss a video. You're correct. But most of the time, people won't respond to your post. You have an exceedingly lesser chance of a response if you commented on, say, a RayWilliamJohnson video.

This sort of meaningless communication and a feeling of being ignored is going to make people grab for attention. In an environment when you clicking that "post" button means you're most likely not going to be seen or responded to (and your comment is totally and utterly worthless), people are going to put on their neon green hats, honk their car horns, and do a little dance to get some attentions.

On BNet, as long as you make a legitimate-content-filled post, you're likely to get responded to. Not guaranteed, but likely.

On here, you're rewarded for intelligence and an understanding of what you're talking about. On YouTube you're rewarded for wearing your flashiest "Look At Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" shirt, as it were.

On here people will get likes because they're posts are good, rather than controversial and attention grabbing. Sure there'll be a few attention whores. But people will ignore them in the same way they ignore JohnCena posts (or have learned to, eventually).

Absolutely. That's hardly up for debate. I'm actually pretty disappointed.

Actually it's completely debatable... it's a subjective opinion. The most debatable thing in the galaxy.

I don't think it'd need moderation as long as posts aren't organized by likes. Who cares if someone has 10 likes? It's not like they have ten posts saying "this", which is much more distracting.

Personally, I'd have to go out on a limb and say anyone that doesn't consider "Also, you're ideas are baseless and have no reasoning behind them whatsoever. Mine do," to not only be both asinine and rude but entirely laughable as well to be a complete moron. It would appear that you are included within that demographic, but I see no surprises there.

Daz proposed moderation of some sort. I asked how that would work.

He hadn't yet given any legitimate reasoning to back up his statements. Now he has. At that point in time his posts were baseless. Now they are not.

And I said I don't think we'd need it. But if we did I think there's little more that we can do besides what I suggested earlier in the thread and give people like 5 likes a day, or having a notice pop up in a "report queue" type dealy where a name pops up when they're "liking" at a rampant pace and links to the posts they've liked.

At the very least it would cut down on quote train de-railing, as shown in the Urk thread. Displaying support for a particular post can be very powerful, it easily shows public opinion on a post without having to read through the entire thread.

If you don't buy this you must admit the forums will be a better place without rampant quote train de-railing (or a significant reduction of it).

I was a finalist :P

If people are really worried about "liking" spam, then why not set a limit to the amount of posts you can like per a 24 hour period.
