Subject: Field Marshal and Zealots

With only a single Field Marshal in the Reach storyline, would it be right to say that the rank itself, alongside General was abolished after the Fall of Reach? I assume Zealots took the place of Generals thereafter. It's strange. Noble Team considered Zealots "a big deal" despite the fact that they encountered Generals a lot before. The fact that Zealots in Reach were used in special operations in "Elite advanced teams" to hunt down religious artifacts leads me to think they had the commanding power of Generals but with a more religious and important role to play. After Reach did Zealots discontinue special, secret religious operations in their small nimble teams?

Thoughts?

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Zealots have always operated the same way, that's why you only ever find one Gold Elite usually surrounded by a team of Elites. As for Field Marshall I don't know why they chose that it's the British equivalent of 5 star General, I'm pretty sure that it's not an Official Covenant rank, rather it was a title given to describe what kind of rank those Elites hold.

Actually you might say a 5-Star general is the equivalent of Field Marshal. Lots of European countries use the rank. So do you think it is in fact a name used to describe a kind of leader of Zealots in a way? Also due to their similar but slightly more elaborate Zealot-class armour.

Zealots, not Field Marshalls.

It's the eyebrows that confirm the presence of Field Marshalls.

Obviously it was changed, but didn't zealots basically hold all commanding ranks? I thought that was the way of Halo in the first, and second. That the distinctions didn't exist- zealots were field marshals, commanding officers, ship captains, whatever. "Zealot" just encompassing all of them together.

I miss seeing the Gold Zealots that gave me nightmares.

The ones on Reach weren't scary and tough like in previous games.

All those ranks are Zealot variants...

What a waste....

I'd say Zealots are just spec ops/religious warriors, Gens/Field Marshals are just in a different division thing. Kind a like how the Army is separate from the Navy. As for the Gens/Marshals, Marshals are probably the highest authority over Generals, who are commanded by Shipmasters who are commanded by the Fleet Master who is controlled by the Supreme Commander (Arby).

Field Marshals are to Zealots what Master Chiefs are to Senior Chiefs, they are just a higher rank in the Zealot division.
