So I'm reading about these Cortana letters and I read some of em and the site has them dated as 1999, two years before the first Halo came out. Is this real or wtf?

yes, these are very real and are pretty old. funny how they should bring in a few old quotes from the first letter too.

Either Bungie has a time machine or they did some good planning.

The Cortana letter s were sent to the Marathon Story Page back in 1999. According to Shishka they are no longer Halo story Canon, altough they were when The Fall of Reach was being written.

Should i be as giddy as I am that a bungie member posted on my topic or does that just happen often?

-edit-

Anyway, even if they aren't Canon, there's some pretty direct references in the trailer. I'm thinking they might be changing that policy.

Actually Bungie was working on Halo starting in/before 98. Originally it was a 3rd person action style, and to be on the Mac. Lots of weapons that people talk about today were actually in the game. However with the rise of PC gaming and the equalibrium effect on Mac gaming, and mostly the purchase of Bungie by Microsoft, meant that the game that premiered at MacWorld world be released with Microsoft's first consol......talk about irony. Thus the storyline to Halo:CE was definitely rattling peoples minds in '99.

You want some more mind bogglers? They started making the Playstation 3 in 2000, and there was a team designing the Xbox 360 (originally code named Trinity) simultaneously with the original Xbox.
