I stopped reading when he said bloom != spread. Bloom is just an animated way to show spread. It's meant to make it easier to track spread, and it's a great idea.
You're just too stuck on the BR where you just pressed the trigger as rapidly as possible becuase as long as you saw him first you killed the other person first.
I hope you're happy. You packed so much stupid into that post I got dumber just reading it.
mmkay. Let's get this straight: 1) Bloom is spread.
Yep, just one point for your nitwit brain to handle. Even back in Halo 1, spread increases exponentialy over time with weapons. Why do you think you fire bursts from the AR? And using full auto on the PR?
You have no idea what you're talking about; I modded halo 1, I know exactly how the weapons work. They had "bloom", just not animated. Every Halo has had "bloom", just not noticable on precision weapons (except apparently the h3 carbine).
Bloom is helpful, it shows the spread so not just people who have been playing reach for all their waking hours can see when to cut down RoF and be more accurate. You're just all pissed it's on a precision weapon, but it introduces a strategic aspect; whether to take a shot and risk missing and win or to fire steadily with a guarenteed hit but possibly die. Basically every other good FPS has a choice for you to make like this, and it's a strategical part of the game. I should have known by now all modern halo players expect their primary weapon to shoot in a perfectly straight line all the time, no matter how much they spam the trigger. It's what the BR did for two games, so I guess that's good enough?
TBH the BR was a nightmare. In h2, no one used anything but the BR or the carbine, and all the other weapons that halo 1 got right were just accessories. In h1, you could go out with a PR and kill people with its stun and if you used a low RoF, it was pretty accurate. The pistol was easily beaten in relatively close range with a good AR, and you didn't have to be in melee range to shotgun your opponents. The FRG wasn't an OP pos that let you kill your opponents in one hit, and the sniper had a decent sized max ammo that actually let you move around instead of having to constantly camp near an ammo source.
In reach, the PR/repeater is -blam!- and only takes down shields, the PP stuns vehicles for wwwwaaaay too long, and the shotgun is a melee weapon.
Oh, and on previous page, the h2 carbine did not have spread, it was always dead on accurate which is why it was long range.
Spread is random, with no control. Bloom is controlled by smaller RoF. Herp, maybe you need to see a vid to show you that hce had bloom: http://youtube.com/watch?v=OilVqh0lhNY
Bloom was always in halo; reach just visualized it.
