How is it a sad day for punk rock?
What bands do you like?

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

Punk is to lose of a term now-a-days.

Cool, I also like Rancid and Bad Religion. I've heard a couple of songs from the Ramones and Dead Kennedy's.

I'm into heavy punk and punk-rock like GreenDay and Blink 182

not a big fan. but i won't start my punk theology here in these forums. besides i'm an old fart. we always complain about the new fangled twist on our beloved music.

I kinda agree with you but the "new fangled twist" is punk-rock whereas Rancid, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols etc are Punk.

So basically what I'm saying is that a lot of people think that bands like sum41 and blink182 are posers pretending to be punk, when they're not punk, they are punk-rock.

Sometimes.

The reason why I equate it with emo is they also can sing it emotionally. I like some AFI, but punk in general isn't too appealing.

I'm a techno person through and through.

i just think lyrically a lot of new punk bands have forgot what punk is about. punk in the beginning was about something. it was about a movement. ramones, dead kennedys, bad religion... they all said something with there lyrics.

all punk songs are about nowdays is sex, cussing, and pissing people off. they have lost the politics of punk.

Excuse me Riddick10 but are you calling us goths?
If you're not into any form of rock or punk etc then fine you have an opinion but I don't care if you think that my kind of music is "stupid".

actually, it was more about saying "fnck you" to "the man," and not "selling out." kind of hard not selling out nowadays, what with MTV and all. still, there are bands out there that manage to avoid the mainstream.

A lot of modern punk-rock bands sing about real life situations like growing up and being lonely etc. They have meaning and truth behind the songs.

Real punk is about politics. Alos a lot of punks have gone soft, to see what punks used to be like look at sharpskins or drop kick murphy skinheads.

no old bands like the ones i mentioned where not all like screw you. a majority of the songs where politically based and pointed out social ills. i challenge you to go read some lyrics from the ramones, dead kennedys, and bad religion. what you'll find is some bands who are extremly socially and politically aware trying to get there message out.

GreenDay's latest album is based around politics.

My theory is that I like punk-rock (blink182, sum41, new found glory etc) at the moment because I'm only 17 and their songs is based around situations that I would face everyday (college, dating etc). But when you are much older and out of that phase then real Punk is what you should listen to.
