Subject: Halo 2 - Lots of water .... Halo 3 - Very dry. MY THEORY

What I want for Halo 3:

Personally, I've wanted this since Halo 1. Day/Night multiplayer maps. Could you imagine seeing the hogs and tanks around the maps with their headlights on, the banshee, wraith ghosts with streams of purpleness. Nightvision, bullets lighting up the battle, the moons giving a chilly glow. Imagine all this on a well known map like Blood Gluch (Coag.). Just PICTURE IT !

Yeah it's standard Covenant tactics to glass enemy planets once the space defences have been destroyed. It happened to all the outer-colony worlds in the books, and it happened to Reach (a clip of which is seen at the start of Halo 2, level 1).

So I'm sure the Chief would find a way to survive, and I'm sure that the Covenant would spare the Arc-site, but everything else would be toast.

Kinda sad really...

The earth missions are in Africa which means there is desert there.

Zanzibar is an island off the coast of Africa. That is why there is so much water.

Let's remember, it's a trailer. Try not to read into it too much. As for the big glowing thing, I'd say that is The Ark.

They wouldn't glass earth because earth holds some major religious significance to them, being it is the home of the Ark. It would be too sacriligious even for Truth. I could be wrong though. I'd assume it's dry because the location of the ark is a huge dessert, or the covenant burned everything in the area away to dig out the Ark.

One of my theories I have is that Earth is at the brink of being obsolete. I noticed that in Halo 2 there were a lot of levels (including MP) that had water in it, lots of water. In the teaser I see no sign of water. Instead we see a dry desert with broken bridges in the backround. What if the structure in the canyon was sucking up Earth's energy, it's life ... everything that makes Earth ... EARTH.

What do you think ?

Um hello, we are in the middle of an EAST AFRICAN DESERT! And if you notice, at the beginning of the trailer, there is a green grassy hill over to the right. So it's not that dry.

I'll be on my own side.

The Covies wouldn't have glassed Earth because they knew there was some Forerunner tech there. This is exactly why they didn't glass Reach(well, not totally).

Perhaps the other regions of Earth have been glassed(as in, all the other places except Africa).

The guy that said they would not glass us is right, just like they didn't glass reach straight off, they want somthing.

I'll be on my own side.

YOU GO TO BED!!! YOU HAVE SCHOOL!!

Anyways, this artifact is in the African desert, meaning there won't be much water, period. If the rest of the planet is glassed, we don't know about it(yet).

  • 05.10.2006 4:08 AM PDT

I don't think it says anything. The trailer shows a single location which is supposed to be in the middle of an African desert.

Let's recall that we were told something very familar before another game. Earth was being invaded, in fact, it was thouroghly conquered. This game was called Halo 2

its a desert, so what, the reason those levels had water was because they were sitting on an ocean,

this one is desert, becaue its logical,

yah, im gonna hide a 6 mile wide super structure on the beach, where everyone goes.

You do bring up a good point, though. One thing I liked about the previous Halo games was the wide array of settings you played in. I really hope that Halo 3 isn't too dry, if you know what I mean. Although Earth is being invaded, it's always nice to fight in some pristine, futuristic setting, too.

the MC's armor was made by humans so he can't be the ark and that would be stupid anyway.

We must need all that water to begin the Great Journey! I have no idea..
