The Forerunners built the Ark looooong before humans and Covenant even existed, and they buried it on Earth, right? Well, I know this is just a game, but could'nt the Ark be something on Earth today? Just a suggestion. What do you guy and gals think?

I discussed that at church wtih my buddies and we thought the Halo story was sort of religious. The "Covenant of the Ark" and how the Prophets claimed this was a religious war, if i recall.

The Ark would activate the other Rings, therefore killing off the Flood. Again.

So in a weird twisted sick kind of way that sort of protects you from the Flood. Which is why the Chief probably isn't shooting at the Covenant. He is probably in fact, trying to help them destroy the Flood, and he knows activating the Arc is the only way to do it.

Think about it:
- Gravemind controls the Covenant home-ship thingy AND has Cortana. These make Gravmind AND the flood a huge threat. If Cortana can be controlled by the Flood then who knows what they can do? I mean they are on a giant jump-capable world filled with flood lifeforms.
- If the Humans are the forerunner, and the forerunner set off the rings ages before, then isn't Humanity's existance a testament to the fact that life CAN survive the rings being set off? And given that the Covenant seemed to have glassed earth and already annihalated humanity, what does the Chief have to lose??

Cortana.
