if you played all the way through halo 2, you probably came to the conclusion that a permanent human-elite alliance was brewing, now in the halo 3 trailer, a fleet of banshees and covenant capitol ships pass the cheif, some of the banshees SURELY would have seen him, and then when that structure begins to open you see the covvies attempt to get away in haste, yet they dont do a slipspace jump like in halo 2(which effectively destroyed the city. could this be because the fleet is an elite-controlled fleet and they are now allied?

The banshees probably didn't attack because it looks cooler when they just pass by. It would ruin the flow of the trailer. I am hoping that the humans and "heretic" elites fight together though.

the elites were basically pushed aside in the covenant, being a race who values honor and such i expect the elites to abandon the covvies

also, seeing as how the entire covenant wants MC dead for the destruction of the first halo, i dont think they would simply pass up an oppertunity like that..the speed they were moving at suggests they were making an aggressive move towards the structure.

If they are allies, why do we not see any human pelicans / longswords flying over the Arc?

I couldn't bear to say this but many people have said that the covenant ships were afraid of the ARK that was opening and that MC wasn't being attacked by the covenant ships. Remember in Halo 2 that the prophets & brutes betrayed the elites. The elites teamed up with the grunts and the hunters, while on the opposite side they were fighting the jackals, the brutes, those inscets that fly, and the prophets. Don't you think that the Arbiter decided to help MC and that the covenants ships that were around the ARK were the elites, grunts, hunters?

Inside the Mind of Halotitan Help me get expand my mind.

I wouldn't bet on anything...this was just a trailer for the game and a HUGE teaser at that....hell that video was probably just made for the trailer and everything we saw has nothing to really do witht the game

It's probably all an attempt to kill of the Flood. With Gravemind controlling a jump-capable flood-infested planet, I imagine that the Galaxy must be in rough shape.

Its probably the humans and elites in those ships. they are to late now, and they can just watch as the ark is activated, the ship thats getting tipped by the shockwave is probably the ship that carried the prophets.

i dont approve of calling that structure the ark, since it resembles the covanant city on the mutliplayer map "gemini" greatly.that and the fact that the ark was never even proven to be on earth

For -blam!-s sake. The Elites, Hunters, and Grunts would follow the Arbiter to certain death (well, amybe not the Grunts). If the Arbiter is with the Humans, then the New Covenant are too. Also, I don't think the alliance will be permanent - temporary at best.

im not sure about the trailer having signs of the alliance, but the last level of halo2 showed that there was an alliance and not jst the arbitor. i mean there is the bit where johnson gets into the scarab and the hunters and the elites are fighting the brutes with the humans. an when u fight the brute cheiftan god knows how many elites pass by johnson while he is sniping during the battle. the alliance has already been clearly defined.

i jst hope that when u do two player co op, one plays as the cheif the other the abbitor, that would be cool!!!

also, bungie has said there are subtle clues to the plot in the trailer. so it does have at least SOMETHING to do with it.

You know you might be on to something there... The way all the ships close in, and then the way they suddenly race away.... plus the fact that neither the Chief nor the Banshees shoot each other.

Perhaps Gravemind jumps the Covenant planet-ship out of the reach of the Halo's and then activates the Ark to wipe out the stragglers?

edit: What he said ^^ I just took too long writing ;)

I beg to differ, the Elites were shunned from the Covenant on a whole, and communication in the H3 day and age is streamlined.

I think the Elites may have seen the errors in their blind follow, and prehaps ALL will join with the humans. I was also under the impression that they now followed the Arbiter like their own leader.

EDIT: and i thought the ships were simply getting out of the way. Those fins looked like it was going to smack into the nearest ship, I'd be getting the hell out of there too. Save me ships skin.

the evidence is so clear. Halo2: They asked where the prophet was going. the oracle responded with: to the ark of course! CUT to scene of the prophets ship entering earths atmosphere with MC riding piggyback. Its so the ark!

for what we can assume begining the ark lookin like the covvie city, come on, the covvie stole all their tech from the forerunners. so it would only make sence it would look the same!!!

Dude it looks waayy too small for that ship to be the Ark. It could be part of the Ark (i.e it lands in a central docking pad or something).

But the way that beam of light fires up at the end of the teaser does seem consistent with the beam fired from the ship in the Covie homeworld (before it flies off that is).

it is not clear actually, the covenant fleet was already there, and even if the ark was on earth, what makes you think that structure was it?

we have circumstantial evidence at best. nothing solid.

on the original note : no ones mentioned this but no doubt noticed it , but when the banshees fly over head the chief doesnt even seem to mind, adding more to the alliance point.

My Gamertag: Hollow Anuthika

Alright, here are my thoughts.

Of course we have all guessed that the forerunner thingy is the ARK, now remember the ARK remotly activates ALL the Halo's, which means the wiping of sentient beings from existance, plus a massive power serge shooting out to start the activation hence the covies getting out of there.

As for the lack of Human forces, I put that doown to the fact that in the discription it says all of earths defences were taken out and they are now defencless to the covvies, that would mean alot of the ground forces would be overwhelmed on other parts of the planet, while the chief is on a special mission towards the ARK.

But who knows, maybe he's not alone, maybe we FINALLY get to see his Spartan bretheran at his side. All I know is, that trailer is sick! and I can't wait till 2007.
