Dear Bungie,
Where can I start.. Gentlemen this is a long read so bare with me. I also hope that someone from Bungie shall read this. It would make me feel better.. So let me begin.. Halo CE will forever be remembered as the game that saved the Xbox. That is a fact, plain and simple, it was the reason to have one. Halo CE as a game was also the greatest game ever made for multiplayer on a console period. I don't have to explain it, the campaign was open ended and beautiful, the multiplayer added a lifetime of playability. Then bring Halo 2, argue anyone may, but it is a fact that it was a rushed slap job that just happened to entertain quite a few people. But also had the highest drop out rate. Bungie, I tried to like it, Really.. I did my best.. But I just could'nt.. As a matter of fact, I was in such denial that it was a Halo game that in order to try to enjoy it; I tried looking it as a totally different game cosmically related to Halo. Like Marathon... Halo 2 was just a butchered version of the Halo universe.. The story was kind of over the top.. However, I don't know what a lot of people say, but the Arbiter was a welcome addition. I enjoyed using him and I thought he was cool. The campaign was not as open ended as halo CE and legendary was.. Well.. Just not as legendary as Halo CE... The thing that impressed me the most about Halo CE was the AI.. It encompassed the word. Very intelligent, and very revolutionary.. And the multplayer, lets just say that there is so much wrong with it that I am sure Bungie is very aware of why many hardcore Halo CE players abandoned Halo 2. I mean, I am sure you have heard Halo2sucks.com (which talks about everything that sucks about halo2).. Not to be disrespectful.. But the keyword was this: Physics.. The physics in Halo CE rocked the kazba.. I have not played a game since that has had such a great physics engine. As a matter of fact, if Bungie had tried to build Halo CE with the original physics engine, maybe they would have had more time to give us the engineers, the ATVs, the Human flying vehicle... Anyway, that is what killed Halo 2. The physics made it feel like a counterstrike mod. In the end I know the video game industry is just a business.. I know that Microsoft wanted Bungie to wrake in the big bucks.. And they did.. However, I give Bungie the benefit of the doubt. I do not believe that Bungie betrayed their hardcore fans on purpose. Which brings me to Halo 3. When I saw the trailer, I got hope, because once I saw Chief coming out with that Battle Rifle, I knew Bungie was returning to it's roots. I know Halo 3 is to come out 2007, and although it feels like the same constrained and eerie short time line that made halo 2 suck; I hope Bungie pulls it off. I hope they right the great wrong when us hardcore halo fans, who took our xboxes from house to house and introduced our friends to Halo and made them fans; which in turn went out and bought xboxes to have halo and play system link as well, which in turn made microsoft more money. This was an xbox cultural phenomenon. This is what made Halo CE remain $50 until Halo 2 came out. I am rooting for Bungie to get it right. I hope you are not offended by my post. I just wanted to say that after looking at the trailer I am believing and hoping that Bungie could pull it off. I want to hear a story about how the team who made Killzone left ashamed at looking at Halo 3 like the Team of the game tribes left after seeing Halo CE. Take Care Bungie, I shall be waiting to see if this game brings your hardcore fans back from the exodus that was put on to us by the arrival of Halo 2.
