... Remember what happened with Halo 2, though. Everyone expected it to be this really awesome thing, and when it came out... well, I remember more than a few people saying they were 'disappointed'. All I'm saying is, try not to get too attached to the prospect of Halo 3, considering what happened. :)
Of course you always need to take into account that the trailer can be made to look great as a cinematic, but it's making interactive content which is the real struggle. Just because all the components used in the clip fit perfectly, looked beautiful and sounded great, it doesn't mean that those same gimmicks would hold up while a player is at the helm progressing through a mission sequence. What you can say FOR SURE, is that by making this game for the 360, a boost in game quality is innevitable. That was one of the biggest problems I had for H2. I thought for sure that a Halo sequel would not be made for the XBOX, and then the announcment came. Yes I had all these hopes and wishes to see what Bungie could do, but I really expected the game to be exactly what it ended up being(except for much of the multiplayer aspect...I am extremely happy with the way that turned out. YAY Bungie! HOORAY MATCHMAKING !!)
I guess thats why it REALLY REALLY got to me. My most cynical, but truthful thoughts, were realised on that November day. I didn't want to be right. Same system, cheesy pimping Halo moments. <- I don't like it when games try to gloat within themselves. Yes Halo was awsome, yes it was a little different, but it didn't have an underlying tone of "Hey look out world, I'm Halo, and I'm gonna kick your ass! Yeah you know what I'm talkin' bout. Aren't I just the Microsoft pin-up shiznit...don't deny it."
HALO was a vicious predator lying quietly that caught people by complete surprise. Let's let Halo 3 bring that back. The game better start off with a very simple "no time to chat. Chief I need you to do this, now." None of that damnsel in distress crap..."Oh dear, what are we going to do? Oh, Mr. Chief is here, hooray, hell save the day, because he's the bomb."
"Sir, finishing this fight." Oh yeah, your sooooo cool aren't you. I liked you better when you had that quiet sense of dignity.
[I can be a bit whiny. I know. But in the end, Halo 1&2 are still excellent games when compared to things other than themselves.]
