Seriously, if humans turn out to be descendants of the forerunners, it will be weird for a start. "Yes, you're my son, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to take away your technology and your language, and revert you and all the other kids in this street to primitives known as Egyptians."
I mean come on?
Maybe they evolved to appear physically the same because the forerunners evolved on Earth and thus the conditions forced them into a very similar bi-pedal form. And then perhaps some forerunners survived, looked like humans and pulled a Stargate SG-1, and started spreading their seed amongst the human population so that they could use the halos.
Who knows...
All Guilty Spark has ever said is that humans are "reclaimers". This means that there is some link between forerunners and humans, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are forerunners. The Ark was presumably the last defense the forerunners had against the flood (like Atlantis in Stargate), hence why it was able to activate the other rings, and hence the names. If they did survive, perhaps because the structure was shielded from the pulse (like the insides of the rings presumably were, given the flood survived in containment), they probably began re-populating. But if that's true, why do none of them remember? Perhaps the new generation were not told...
