I think so because the humans are the reclamers(thats what 343 guilty spark always calls them.) and they can operate the halos(for exsample taturus and his brutes needed humans in halo 2 to activate the halos.).

If humans are decendents of the Forerunners I will be so happy. I think that would be the GREATEST twist in the game and will make me very very happy.

JUST THINK!

The Humans are actually the people The Covenate Worshop! OOOOOO!

I think the humans are the decendants of the forerunners, thats why they can activate the Halo's. And Mc isn't one, hes a marine underneith that armour... ain't he?

Of course the humans are the bloody Forerunners!! why do you think the ark is on the earth?!!! And i think its obvious that we once ruled the galaxy, i mean...we are too smart after all.

Its almost too obvious that the forerunners are either humans or related to humans. everytime guilty spark 343, or the other one that Gravemind has in Halo 2, sees a human (MC) always says 'ah, another reclaimer'. either that or the MJOLNIR armor looks a lot like some forerunner armor.

I reckon you guys should wait and see ay? Better than convincing yourselves of something then finding out that its not going to happen.

Thing is, if the humans are the Forerunners, it also explains how the Covenant hates us to the core. The Prophets knew we were Forerunners all along, but we were inferior to them, we weren't as mighty as we were "supposed" to be, so the Heirarchs declared us an affront to the gods, just without explaining it (see "Conversations from the Universe"). Why did the Prophets do this? Because if the lower classes of the Covenant saw their "mighty gods" were in fact weak and primitive humans, their beliefs would collapse and the Covenant's religion will be destroyed.

So yeah, I say humans are the Forerunners, either descendants of them, or the Forerunners may in fact be highly advanced humans from the future. Remember what 343 Guilty Spark said in the Maw in Halo 1?

"You can't imagine how exciting this is! To have a record of all of our lost time! Human history, is it? Fascinating."

This sentence makes more sense if the Forerunners are future humans, possibly sent back in time millions of years to research the Flood safely or something. The "lost time" bit shows that the Forerunners weren't to know that there would be a huge war involving the Covenant. Just speculation anyways. =P

whether humans are forerunners or not, i have my suspicions on Master Chief.
During one of the novels (i cnt remember what one exactly) he activates a forerunner console, when Cortana asks how he knew what symbol to press he simply answers that he "somehow knew" (not exact words).
Alot of the 'Reclaimer' stuff mentioned by Guilty Spark does speculate that the forerunners are humans, but Master Chief obviously has something about him that we don't know yet.

But if it turns out they are the Forerunners... We all sort of would of known it...so...I'm gonna try to block it out and when it comes to it I can go "I KNEW IT!"...sigh

That hand reminds me of the Elites.

Are the Forerunners Human-Elite crossbreeds? =O! *shot*

I guess we will have to wait and see.

I don't have any, unfortunately.. Other than the fact this is one of the oldest theories in the book. So it wouldn't come as a surprise to me. :( But I'm sure it would come as a shocker to most people that just play the game and don't think much about the story.

I think Bungie is really clever and humans aren't the forerunners, but everyone thinks so, so BAM! Big surprise! Also, if they are, I personally think that the connection would be harder to spot or something, right now its so obivous...

Decendants yes... like, humans AND the covenant are the seeds the forunners planted.

This is my view.

nope. think about it, the halo rings are ancient. how are humans supposed to have traveled across the galaxy say 2000 years ago to create them. also, arent the forerunners extinct?

I think the Spartans are the Forerunners. No easily human can carry a 3,000 pound suit of armor around. (Medieval times doesn't count there armor is only 250 lb.)

The novel you are talking about is The Flood(the second novel of three).

also when the master cheif is in the library of halo 1 in that same book 343 guilty spark says to master chief that his armour is only class 2 when he should be at least wereing level 12 to combat the flood.

that means theres armour that is 6 times better than halo 1 armour.

The Spartans were chosen by Dr. Halsey ... long before they discovered the Halo-Rings. The Spartans are just normal humans.

Seriously, if humans turn out to be descendants of the forerunners, it will be weird for a start. "Yes, you're my son, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to take away your technology and your language, and revert you and all the other kids in this street to primitives known as Egyptians."

I mean come on?

Maybe they evolved to appear physically the same because the forerunners evolved on Earth and thus the conditions forced them into a very similar bi-pedal form. And then perhaps some forerunners survived, looked like humans and pulled a Stargate SG-1, and started spreading their seed amongst the human population so that they could use the halos.

Who knows...

All Guilty Spark has ever said is that humans are "reclaimers". This means that there is some link between forerunners and humans, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are forerunners. The Ark was presumably the last defense the forerunners had against the flood (like Atlantis in Stargate), hence why it was able to activate the other rings, and hence the names. If they did survive, perhaps because the structure was shielded from the pulse (like the insides of the rings presumably were, given the flood survived in containment), they probably began re-populating. But if that's true, why do none of them remember? Perhaps the new generation were not told...
