As opposed to the pinpoint death ray BRs we had in H2 and H3, right?
lolwut

the BRs were ridiculously inaccurate long range.

Furthermore the DMR's are infinitely better than the BR's at long range.

If anything the DMR is a "pinpoint death ray."

Bungie should consider investing in precipitation gathering nets for these forums. The sheer amount of tears shed by anyone who's been destroyed by armor lock, jet pack, grenades, and the AR could continuously operate hydroelectric dams, irrigate farms, and provide clean drinking water for third world countries.

I disagree that they weren't overpowered. In a general scenario, the rifle weapons dominated anything outside of a specialized scenario (CQB with a shotgun/sword, long range with a sniper rifle). Once you had a rifle, it was pretty much on your person the entire time because nothing quite matched it, and that's assuming you didn't even spawn with it. When you did, the entire match pretty much consisted of who shot first, if you didn't have a power weapon. There wasn't a lot you could do if the opponent shot you even a fraction of a second before you did.

Oh you get me wrong Ghost, I'm not against competitive gameplay, it can be very fun. I'm just against the MLG players who want to define 'fun' for me and tell me my concept is wrong because they don't like bloom.

you realize that both ogre 2 and pistola wanted bloom to stay in right?

Really? source? Sounds interesting.

That's because it's a mid-range weapon and most battles occur around mid-range.

Once you had a rifle, it was pretty much on your person the entire time because nothing quite matched it, and that's assuming you didn't even spawn with it.
Well obviously you should always have it because it's a utility weapon.

When you did, the entire match pretty much consisted of who shot first, if you didn't have a power weapon.Note even close. Your ignorance stems from the fact that you've never played Halo at a high level before.

There wasn't a lot you could do if the opponent shot you even a fraction of a second before you did. Most people strafe.

Join my game. I will face away from you. Start BRing me and I will turn around and out BR you.

Dear God the fact that you can call Halo a who sees who first wins shoother is beyond my comprehension.

You don't understand this game at all.

It wasn't the 3 shot magnum in CE. You had to out maneuver your opponent and land all of your shots. You're not carrying around a rocket launcher the whole game. And some weapons did kill faster than the BR. AR+Melee was just as fast as pulling off two bursts+melee. Shotgun killed you just fine.

I've been playing Halo since CE launch. Telling me I'm unaware of how the game works is stupid and makes you look insecure. If you don't agree with me, then say that, state your reasons, and wait for a reply. You only make yourself look like a tryhard when you do otherwise.

EDIT: I've also played Halo at a high enough level to win money at local tournaments, (Though never first place, there were some ACTUAL MLG players there on occasion.) and even fought alongside my friend while he won a free copy of H2. We've been at it for a while, and we both agree that default Reach was just fine. If you don't like that or our reasoning, congratulations.

Send me a message and get on Reach tomorrow. I'll throw on some Zero Bloom MLG settings. I'll let you get the first two shots on me and I'll still out DMR you every time.

It doesn't matter how long you've been playing Halo, you can still not know what the F you're doing or understand the game.

The simple fact that you say you can't turn on opponents in one of the ONLY FPS's where you can do just that shows that.

My offer still stands.

Playing tournaments isn't automatically "high level" Halo. Obviously the players you faced where not that good.

Puma: Hey didja read the part where stats don't determine your opinion? If I were ashamed of my stats or games played, I would have hidden them, like some of the other people in this thread.

If you truly understood the mechanics of Halo, we wouldn't be having this argument.

No RustedEdge I just get the idea that if you weren't so arrogant in your 'understanding' you wouldn't assume your opinion carried more weight.

You should try out my experiment. I've played Halo since CE, but I've played competitive Halo since Halo 3. For some reason, I'm much, much better than you.

Seriously, we should try out our experiment. You can't possibly think whoever sees who first wins.

Hey! Did you read the reply to that said you were incorrect? Because more often than not, a player with higher stats. And more playtime, will know about the game.

But if you're so good, why don't you accept the 1v1?

No man, he's totally right. He's been playing since CE! HE KNOWS HIS GAME MECHANICS BRO.

  • 12.25.2011 10:16 PM PDT

And besides, teamshooting makes up like 80-85% of the game when you're playing with or against a cohesive team that communicates. Rarely should you ever be in a 1v1 where you have an equal chance of winning as the other guy. That's just stupid.

With zero bloom, everyone has much more potential to succeed now that randomness is out of the question. If you think the precision weapons should be nerfed further, they could always have had the DMR fire at a fixed rate that's slower than what it is currently with no penalty to accuracy.

Apparently you need to lrn2read as well Edge.

Jackson: I can honestly say that yes, with zero bloom, unless a COLOSSAL F-up occurs, nearly every time first shot wins. The only exceptions are people with thumb disorders or mental defects.

EDIT: Jackson, even that I'd have been fine with, the reduced fire rate on rifles. But since that didn't happen, and bloom is no longer something you have to willingly deal with, is it that big a problem for people who don't like it that they have to continue to cry about it?
