I've watched trailer 10 times of now! Me and my friend have sat here in college watching the trailer frame by frame almost trying to figure it out. The only thing I did notice was the symbol someone has already posted and the sign at the begining seems to have a picture of grunt walking on it (that could be just me) but people have said "I saw it straight away." but I ain't seeing NOTHING!!!

Please help me.

If it's the gravemind voice mixed with Cortana's I noticed that upon the second time of watching the trailer. Or is it something else?

There's a shape (may have been said before) at around 55 secs in - Also, there looks like there is caligraphy beside it... but that maybe just my eyes :P

Its reminscent of the "O" from the halo logo, except without the portion cut out of it. Has anyone else seen this?

It's the road sign as far as I can tell. Though I'm sure I heard a certain bleep from Marathon.

I think the easter egg is the Grunt sign. It's the same symbol that you get when you try to get on the forums but Bungie is having technical difficulties.

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

No if I had the tools like some of you may I would be reversing the sound and slowing down the sound and visuals as I might of seen something.

i think everyone noticed the gravemind voice, how is that an easter egg?

  • 05.10.2006 7:19 AM PDT

Bungie has stated that the Easter Egg has to do with the public works department working during the invasion. One of the tasks of any public works department is to install road signs.

From the FAQ page:
Q
I spotted an Easter Egg in the trailer after I watched it a few times. How do you explain that?

A
The New Mombasa City Council had an incredibly efficient public works department until and even during the tragic and devastating Covenant invasion.

Thus the easter egg is the road sign. The public works department would not make Cortana's voice mix with gravemind's. That doesn't make any sense.

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

ah,i think its a small detail to allow us to know that the covenant have (or are in the process of) taking over earth, i didnt see any signs with humans on it. A grunt crossing sign is certainly not something that you would see on a planet that is ruled by humans. Frankie did point ot in the update that the covenant has destroyed most of Earth. I think you guys look into these things too much and need to start thinking alittle more practical. it may set your minds at ease alittle. but anyways., good topic, good thread and i appreciate allowing me to make a post

True, but not all Prophets, Brutes,Grunts and Elites ( or "the Covenant in general") are are all on the same side.

In some way this is true, to understand you must reference the levels that introduce the arbiter. Where he is fighting a rogue group. They are fighting the same creatures, but they are not covenenant. The covenant is an Organization MADE UP OF different creatures. This doesn't mean that all creatures of a specific type are a part of the Covenant, proof of this is the rebels in the station around the ruins of halo04, the heretics as the game called them. Although some members of the covenant were forced into joining as a whole. The hunters and grunts both seem to have resisted joining the covenant. Thats probobly why they sided with the Elites.
