The elimination of VIP. Think about it--one player is randomly handicapped at the start of the game and then all of the other players have to either protect them or escort them somewhere. Sounds fun right? Not when you get the VIP who runs out in the Elephant by themselves and heads straight to the enemy team. VIP requires 'honor rules' to play. In a matchmaking setting, randoms are not going to play the game the way it was meant to be played, which is why I think it was wise for Bungie to dedicate their resources to the development of other gametypes.

Like Headhunter.

Subject: The one thing Bungie got right

VIP was awesome. It had some great customization too.

Well, I think Bungie did more than one thing right, but I see your point. VIP was the dumbest thing, especially when you're playing on a split screen LAN.

As for Headhunter, I like it...

They didn't need to kill it though. Think of the customs man! Now we have Headhunter- no one plays it in MM or customs.

But even in MM VIP was still great. I can see how it wouldn't work with Reach's community, but they didn't need to kill it.

All that work on other gamtypes didn't really pay off though. No one plays Headhunter. Ask a random in MM what Juggernaught is, they likely won't know. Invasion needs work. Haven't played a match of stockpile since last year. Basically, Reach's three core gametypes are CTF, Slayer, and Assault. All the others pretty much fall into obscurity.

I thought this was going to be serious.

I say what they got right was active roster and Forge coordinate system.

But you can win the game by picking up the skulls from your dead body, meaning you wont ever need to leave your base if you get killed there. BTB Headhunter was one of the saddest MM experiences I ever had.

Implying I was speaking of team games or even MM.

Aside from Chess, I don't see the point of a gametype being created solely for custom games. I was disappointed to see Race excluded from MM. There are so many good race tracks out there.

Race can't be added because then the banhammer would Cr ban everyone for lack of kills.

Remember the VIP gametype asset? One reason to wish it was still around.

The sensitiviy axis's in Reach are the best so far.

CE-3 had this retarded issue with sensitivity chagning more for one axis than the other.

I <3 Halo:Reach - amazingly fun and best campaign + amazing Soundtrack
I <3 Halo 3:ODST - best soundtrack + Firefight + Coastal Highway and Mombassa Streets, amazingly unique campaign.
I <3 Halo 3 - best multiplayer levels + Forge + best Custom Games + soundtrack
I <3 Halo 2 - amazing huge fun campaign + soundtrack + Fun multiplayer
I <3 Halo: CE - started it all

I can honestly say I played VIP in Halo 3 like twice in some "Protect the president" gametype in Custom Games. People who say it was awesome and how it should have been in Halo:Reach are just...I don't even know.

As someone said earlier, there was a really fun gametype in the ODST playlist called "Asset escort" or something. Well, fun assuming you got the teammates who played it properly.

I liked the Attacker/Defender traits for VIP the most. I modded a VIP gametype and turned it into a Spartan Vs Elites. BR/AR and Carbine/PR respectively, and gave the Elites 110% damage and shields. Never tested it outside a 1v1 lol.

VIP didn't want to give up those traits to Invasion. :(

I think he is talking about the shape of the deadzone.

OT: I wish Headhunter had a modifier that allowed you to adjust player attributes based on how many skulls you are holding. For example 1 skull = 1/5 overshield. Holding 10 skulls would give you 2x overshield. Another example could be 1 skull = 1% reduction in movement speed simulating a "weighing you down" effect.

Go back and play any Halo game besides Reach. Go from 3 sens to 6. You will notice how looking up/down is slower than left to right. In Reach it changes both to the same degree. You will know what I mean when you feel it.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

At least it was semi-balanced. The VIP was given a crappy gun at first, but they could find a good one from the start. The VIP had a waypoint over their head, but they were given overshield. I think it was semi-fair, but I didn't play too much of it because no one ever voted for it. I liked the idea.

What's even remotely fair about a bloated slowpoke with incredibly stunted shield regen having a waypoint over his head the entire game?
