I don't care really, if I pwn PC users, console users, or both. I just don't want to pay to pwn on H2PC.

Heyyo,

Elmicker, they diddn't port the Halo1xbox netcode, cause that one's built for lan only. Heck, even if they did port the Halo1xbox netcode it would be better than what we currently have. Xbox connect I hear runs Halo1 great. For Halo1PC, gearbox had to rebuild the Halo engine from the ground up. This includes the netcode, which they focused on making playing on 56k dialup... which it failed to do cause when I tried on dialup I couldn't join servers with more than 8 players or I'd get a 15 second lag from when I even typed and when it appeared on screen.... and then the server would boot me. So yeah, H1PC's netcode was a monstrosity, probably one of the worst netcodes for a PC multiplayer game if not the worst. Bungie overwatching the H2PC port will be a nice change since I guess they realised the hideousness that was H1PC.

Anywho, back ontrack with this thread. Playing with xbox users will be nice since it means more gamers to game with. The only thing I see that would suck if the game's diddin't implement it is an ability to mute user's mics since I hear about the horrors of console gaming and 12 year old kiddies armed with a mic instead of good gaming...... The thought of hearing their shrieking little voices sends chills down my spine, seriously, it does.

Hopefully, playing across platforms will reduce cheating, as both platforms will have to have checksums to verify that both platforms are using the right versions.

Unfortunately, Xbox users will probably still have all their button glitches, and there are always going to be extremely skilled PC morons, who will decide to try and find ways to exploit the game, rather than going to work to increase their skill sets and to support themselves.

One of my co-workers is a cheat admin for America's Army on TWL. He heard G4TV say the engine was the Unreal 3 engine and if so, there are MANY cheats out for that engine already. Hopefully they will have some kind of anti-hack/cheat detection in place when they put it on PC.

I do perfectly fine playing Halo 2 with the controller, but I still can't wait to get Halo 2 PC and absolutely destroy people with the great fragging devices known as the keyboard and mouse.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

In a contest of equal skills in controller v mouse, the mouse and keyboard combo will rip 9 kinds of -blam!- out of the controller user every single time. Controllers have a limited speed to turn, they're innaccurate and slow to boot. Even crappy mice can have you with your crosshair on their head in a fraction of a second, good mice are even faster and even more accurate.

You mean he works with PunkBuster right? Man, that would be sort of a nice addition to Halo2 PC.

SONIC, WHY WON'T YOU DIE ALREADY?!?!?!!? *grabs a nuke, donught, and several hand grenades and shoves them into sonic's mouth.*

Troll (trol)

1. n. A person who posts on a forum with an intent of sparking a flame war by posting in an offensive, usu. idiotic manner. Can be found on most forums. Feeds off of anger and derives satisfaction from it, prefers to feast on the emotions of fanboys and their enemies. Currently unknown how satisfaction is derived from such a strange source. Under no circumstances are trolls to be fed, since most will lumber off in search of fresh forums to troll. See: Forum Bouncer, Flamer, Loser

2. v. To post in a forum with this intent, to cause trouble, to act like one. Usu. derogative, and ignored by smarter forum members.

And ROBO, play nice. That puts you on the same level as the above. Can't you ever say anything nice for a change?

people were saying that there will never be cross platform gaming in general. as i said, i dont know what games will support it, but there will be cross platform gaming. personally, IF IT'S FREE, id like cross platform gaming in halo 2, but if its not free, then screw the idea. id never pay for online gaming. ever. thats one reason the ps3 is sounding rather nice all of a sudden... everything but buying things online is free :)

now all sony has to do is find some better games... and i might go out and get one someday.

Well, think about it this way. The people who pay for Xbox Live pay not just for Halo 2, but for every game that supports online play. Not to mention all the extra features, such as downloads like trailers, music videos, themes, etc. So I think that maybe PC gamers could play with console people without having to pay for it, but the console users wouldn't just be paying for that game, they'd be paying for all their online supported games.

that makes snese but i'm still not paying to play games, thats -blam!- reatrded.

You pay for the game, and then play it don't you?

Maybe, at least what I think MS was sort of saying, is that there will be 2 options.

You can pay and play with those who play in Live, so you and your friend, even though you like PC more then console and only have PC, you can still play together/against each other.

Other option would be not pay, so you only play with those who have H2PC and decided not to pay and play MP like normal Halo 1 PC.
That's what I think they meant. If it isn't, if I was MS, which I'm not, but if I was, that's what I would do.

Live is only viable because it supports alot of titles. It wouldn't be a success if the only title available on the pc is h2.
