Subject: A grunt campaign

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

This is an idea i had for a grunt campaign

The year is 2562. The grunts live happily in their homeworld of Balaho.

One day, however, a fleet of covenant lands on Balaho. Brutes, Jackals, Drones and a Prophet land on Balaho and try to re-recruit the grunts into the covenant

A small minority of grunts join, however, the vast majority of the grunt race resist, and a war between the grunts and the covenant ensues.

Throughout the campaign, the player plays as a spec-ops grunt, fighting alongside other grunts to defend the planet, fight the covenant and rescue other grunts.

I have a few ideas for missions. One mission, the covenant are capturing grunts and taking them back to their assault carrier. The player must pursue them and rescue the grunts.

Other missions would just generally be fighting the covenant. The last mission would be a massive battle between the covenant and grunts, and at the end the grunts succeed in driving away the covenant.

Vehicles would be ghosts, spectres, shade turrets and wraiths, only they would be green like the covie separatists. The enemy vehicles would be purple.

Weapons you get are plasma pistols, needlers, plasma rifles and fuel rods, and you can pick up spikers and maulers from enemies. You can also use turrets.

So, thats my idea for a grunt campaign, and when i get Halo Custom Edition i might try to make something like it.

Thanks

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

This couldint work.

It is widely known that Grunts without a strong leadership (Elite
s or Brute's) on the battlefield will panic and brake file.

Yes, but the grunts have enjoyed a decade of freedom, they're determined not to let that slip and for them to become slaves again. Remember the grunt rebellion?

This is the way the World Ends.

Grunts are known for being stupid and unorginized without a leader. It would be incredibly boring playing as a grunt for 9 or so missions.

You really need to look up the definition of the word 'maze', CE is a linear game in a large open environment where you're encouraged to explore. The only levels where you can genuinely get lost are 343 Guilty Spark and The Library, the rest are extremely easy to navigate, there's even arrows on the floor and lighting cues that guide you to where you need to go, you have to be completely retarded to have lost your way so badly to define the game as a maze.

Also, if you want to play a FPS that IS a maze, I suggest Marathon and the old DOOM games, you'll realise how stupid you look defining CE as a maze once you play those...

NOBODY would take a game about Grunts seriously, they're comic relief, only Contact Harvest managed to do Dadab justice because it was a novel, a game based around them would be stupid. If I want to hear squeaky voices from loathesome twats in Halo I'd play matchmaking.

Lol

TBH, I thought that because many players are fans of grunts, a game based around them and their struggle for freedom would capture the sympathy of the player

And it wouldn't be like any other halo game where you can jump around kill everything willy nilly. Grunts have low health and no shields, a few plasma pistol shots would be fatal. The player is encouraged to be strategic and weary in a more realistic and dangerous battlefield.

Because grunts are week, there would be no melee. The player must use their weapons wisely.

However, the player would be ale to carry up to five plasma grenades, as in game grunts are shown to carry large amounts of grenades.

The player can also take control of shades and ghosts, and any other grunt drivable vehicles, speaking of which, does anyone know anymore?

The brutes would be the most dangerous enemy in this game. They carry deadly spikes, maulers, plasma rifles, brute plasma rifles and gravity hammer, all of which can kill a grunt fast. Apart from the hammer, the player can pick up these guns. However, on some mission the plasma rifle would be a starting weapon.

There would also be moments where cruelty to the grunts is shown. For example, an entire mission would be rescuing civilian grunts from the brutes who are capturing them.

There may even be loyalist grunts. On some mission, the player faces fellow grunts who have sided with the covenant.

^ So in other words, mythic difficulty where you can barely move and jump.

Grunts can't jump? I never knew that

And grunts are covered in caramel? Never knew that either.

And what happened to all the arrogant pricks around here who boast about how mythic is so incredibly easy?

Word of the day:

Barely - Adverb

1 - By a small degree
2 - Almost not at all

In comparison to a Spartan-II supersoldier who can jump 3+ metres and run at 50 odd km/h, this is true.

Evidently the fact that you cannot find your -blam!- spewing minority demonstrably means that most people would find this game concept uncomfortable.

I like killing Grunts, not being them

  • 12.25.2011 10:13 AM PDT

Instead of a grunt campaign, can we just have a grunt slayer gametype? You would die really fast, and your only weapons would be the needler, plasma pistol, and the fuel rod.

The Reach Asset

Xhavalor is amazing <3

I don't think that would be any good as a full game. Arcade game maybe? Yea i'm going to go with an Arcade game. I don't think many people would actually like to be a grunt.

I sure do love killing them though...

The Covenant will "drive away" to a suitable range, then glass the heretic grunts.

I think maybe a level in the game as a grunt would be a cool little thing but how they would do it would have to be carefully done.

Most people would either accept it or reject it.

What would be cool is having a story where a Grunt like Yayap or Dadab is a major character, or at least a frequently encountered friendly character.

In the original 1999 halo ce third person game, there was,I think, intended to be a Grunt campaign.I saw it on youtube,I could find the video,of the grunt doing a barrel roll.
