For the Halo 3 (ONLINE) Multiplayer experience, I have a good idea on how you can make it (free) (dedicated "servers") and pretty much safe against any mods that might happen to the 360...

Add the option to make your Xbox 360 a dedicated server, so you could just leave it on all day and people can be matched up together in your server and play and use your bandwidth, I would leave mine all day. You could even include a ranking to show how much people host games... and how many they have hosted...

Just an idea, that’s if you are going to carry on using the matchmaking system..... it not, never mind.

i think it might be a good idea...but id rather let bungie wory about it...nothing was wrong with the multipplayer in halo 1 or 2, it was the players that were wrong.

I guess you Idea is a good one. Although I'm pretty sure that bungie has already decided what they are going to do for their online play.

Well yea but you are never going to stop people from trying to take advantage of the system, this is the best way i thought of to make sure it doesn't happen so much...

Not to be mean but this will NEVER work. Wow you know how fast your connection will have to be to host more than 25 ppl in H2 imagine H3 with just 16 ppl.

also maybe the system could test your network speed... so it could determine out how many people you can host, maybe the network wizards at BUNGIE have worked out to get more people in a game with a less bandwidth?...

Well if the ping gets to high, then the game should be made to switch to a new server.

Bad idea... Why? Well off the top of my head i can think of standby for one, i know we don't want to think of cheating this early on, but you have to think of what will benefit us halo players and the hard working people at Bungie, the most. And of course you never no what else people might figure out. Halo is a very complex game and lots of weird things have been found while playing the game, so personally i say no to making it ranked (meaning no ranks for the players playing on your server). If you make it unranked and just go with a XBC style than i think that is fine, but people being able to join a persons server and ranking up is just gonna cause trouble.

Counter measures could be put in so if the host loses connection with the clients to much or the host just quits then the game can switch to a new host. I remember Rainbow Six games being really smooth on dedicated servers I didn't have any problems with them....

um, ur idea is good, but then you have the problem of how many people will become servers and what not, its good, but i think its too much hassle. Let bungie deal with the game

Switch to a new server, as in switch to a new persons xbox 360....

In order to do that the person would have to go to the lobby and choose a new server.

thats true, but those players are still messing up my gameplay experience. And its Bungies job to insure that doesnt happen this time. Atleast if they want a good online experience in their game.

My suggestion is that there is always cheating and that Bungie should police the thing and actually enforce it.

I did an experiment and realized that I run into around 5-10 cheaters a day depending on how much I play and thats about 2 hours a day. Cheating has been this rampant atleast for 9 months. So lets do the math....

7 cheaters x 30 days x 9 months = 1890 players caught cheating

Now lets say there are a mere 20 people with this ban ability that play 10 hours a day. Lets do the math again.

7 cheaters = 2 hours
35 cheaters = 10 hours

20 people x 35 cheaters x 30 days x 9 months = 189,000 players caught cheating

Lets compare this to the banhammer which at the last release was 3,200 people.

Now I know Bungie doesnt trust me to give me the ability to ban, however, they have people moderating these forums that play halo once a week for 10 minutes and moderate little kids stupid ideas on here for hours on end.

Why not police it? And when people get caught make it a permanent ban from Halo 2 or 3 and reset their level. Make them create a new account to play again.
