Alright, I've figured out the ending, and here it is.

For all of you who think that Master Chief is going to die at the end, it wouldn't make sense, it wouldn't fit in the theme of the Halo games. Throughout the games there has been countless Religious symbolism and allusions, obvious ones are the Covenant, the Flood, and even the games title, Halo. So, with all that in mind, here's the ending.

Remember the Arbiter. Arbiter means judgement, or judge. At the beginning of Halo 2 we saw the Arbiter hung up in a cross like fashion, much like the crucifiction, making an allusion to Jesus. His name is the Arbiter, so, has anyone heard of Pantacrater Jesus?

Moving on, the only logical endind is to have the Arbiter become a Martyr and die for his people, making another allusion to Jesus and the Arbiter will make the ultimate Judgement of his people. Believe me, Bungie has planned this out from the beginning, there is no flying by the ear endings here, it's methodical.

I think, at the most, Master Chief will go MIA and the human race will never see him again, because he is no longer needed.

EDIT:
This was sent to me in a PM by Backupharmonics

Chief's name, John. It's John who baptises Jesus, breaking him free into his own faith, much like the Gravemind mediated meeting of the two in the bowels of Delta Halo, after the Arbiter meets MC, his beliefs definitely change.

Very intrestign theory. Though at the very end may have not caught it but Cortana says, " This is the way the world will end" maybe the Chief, The Arbiter, the New Covenant, the Humans, maybe they are forced to activate the Halos.

Yes, she says "The entire world will end," and if Halo is activated more than a planet will be annihilated. Also, don't assume prophecies, they're always the least thing you expect them to be.

She never said what world will end, just that one will. Earth? Maybe, but doubtful.

Thats not related to this topic. But go to Bungie's Halo 2 homepage and there should be a link on the right hand side to it.

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

i beleive in what you say, it only makes sense that the arbiter (who was destined to die from the begining) would give his life for his people. i dont really know about what the chief would do but him just leaving kinda makes sense. he was created to be a soldire, a soldier for a war that has ended (unless he was created before, i have to re-read the book) but he would no longer be needed

Uh, I didn't bring Jesus into it, Bungie did. The symbolism is blatant, if you hadn't seen it before than I don't know what to say.

Jesus has been in this since the start. Heck, all things religious have been. Now it's down to picking who Bungie is going to make their "Jesus": the Arbiter, or the Chief.

If the Em Cee dies, it'll probably be because Halo was activated. Bungie has given the illusion that nothing can kill da' Chief (outside of a well aimed sniper's shot or sticky 'nade).

I don't know, it wouldn't fit if Chief dies, Arbiter has already been made to be the Jesus character, he was put up in a crucifix position, his people betrayed him, and now he must be the savior of his people. It would just fit.

Master Chief is kind of an allegory to the truth, he is all facts and truth. Once the Arbiter dies there would be no need for the truth, because all that's needed is faith, therefore that's why I believe Chief will go MIA.

You're right about that, Cyrus. It seems to me that the Chief's importance in the Halo story is dwindling.

Ok look, Whoever da dude is that said earth is going to blow up you are clearly wrong, As on earth there is the Arc, U seen da trailer kid, the arc opens, And if you had the slighest bit of skill inside you, you wouldve completed the game and would've heard the Oracle talking about the arc, the one plae unaffected by the rings, and where it can be stopped.

Safe?!

  • 05.10.2006 10:16 AM PDT

I JUST READ THE HALO 3 PAGE(BUNGIE TOP STORY) AND I BELIEVE THAT THE MOVIE (I NO THIS OFF YOUR TOPIC) WILL TAKE PLACE FROM WHEN CHIEF GETS BACK TO EARTH TILL WHERE WE ARE NOW IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER WHERE ITS A "COVENANT CONQUERED EARTH"...I HAVE A FEELING THE MOVIE WILL SHOW HOW THE HUMANS FOUGHT A VERY BRAVE AND LONG BATTLE AS IF THERE WAS NO TOMRROW BUT THERE WAS NEVER ANY CHANCE FOR THE HUMANS TO MAKE IT THREW THIS WAR NO MATTER WHAT.

I would kill to go back in time and meet Jesus.

All this speculation about how Halo 3 will end is pointless. We all know that Master Chief is going to destroy Mother Brain, escape the self-destruct sequence by mere seconds, and then take off his helmet to reveal that MC is actually a chick.
