Don't you love campers? It takes a lot to be able to win the game with no skill and still enjoy some smores!

You started with the pistol. So why would you try to take him out with a AR? And I hope you would "REALIZE" that you had a chance unless his teammate either sniped you from afar or sent a ROCKET up your you know what. Balance is uncontrollable. Escpecially in a FPS. Unless you play a game where a everyone has the same weapon.
I kill people all the time with an assault rifle when they have the pistol. One short burst and a melee puts them down FAST. If you don't know what you're talking about, stay out of this thread.
This is the most UNintelligent comment I have seen on the forums. No one should have to stay out of a thread, but if anyone did have to, you would be the first to have to step out.
Anywho, back on topic, an AR vs a Pistol at med range would be owned by a pistol. Infact, if any one of you EVER played on xbconnect or gamespy, you would know that if someone wasn't running with some power weapon, they had the pistol (and to a MUCH lesser degree, the shoty). It was rare to see anything else.
All of you that are saying the balance in Halo is off, I agree to a degree (mostly because of things like the PP and Sword), but the solution isn't to go back to another off balance (but still quite fun, mind you) system. In fact, if you notice, in levels that start with the BR, you will NEVER see anyone bust out the SMG. This is because the game shifts from a mix of Long, med, and short range combat, to mostly long and some med range (on some levels, however, this is necessary).
And for all those who say the SMG sucks, you simply don't know how to use this thing. In a one on one Med range SMG vs BR, I may prefer to have the BR, BUT it is certainly not a lost cause to fight. Learn to use the SMG. It's not our fault if u suck with it.
Bungie does have some more balancing to do, but taking the Pistol out as the default was a huge step forward.
