I'm not sure if this has been suggested already, or it's obvious to everyone to watched the trailer, but Cortana says that "this is the way the world ends," just after the blast goes off and the screen goes completely white.

To me, it seems like John is just standing by and watching this happen, like he knew the arc was armed and ready to go off. On the other hand, it looks like the Covenant were none the wiser. It seemed like they were all rushing to the site of the explosion, possibly to try to halt the explosion? I haven't figured out as to WHY the covenant would even want to halt the explosion at all, seeing as how it is part of their "Great Journey", but that is the feeling I was getting while watching the trailer. Other people have suggested that the Prophet was on the Phantom that was being escorted by the Banshees, which would make sense if the Prophet is the only one that the Covenant BELIEVE has the knowledge to stop the explosion from starting. Then, as the arc is arming, it looks like all the covenant ships are trying to escape the blast site (not that it would matter), while MC is simply standing around, awaiting the explosion.

Suggestions, comments?

When MasterChief makes his approach to earth as hes hanging onto the ship it crashes on earth, knocking him out. He is in a dream when he witness "Cortana talking to him/Opening of whatever object" and wakes up to find he has to stop it =P I dunno it would fit no?

Yeah, it could be anything. It seems weird that Bungie would put that specific sequence as the teaser, since it seems like it would fit at the end of the game, rather than the beginning. And is the world ending a good thing or a bad thing? The Arc NEEDS to be activated at some point to stop the Flood, correct?

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

The covies ain't trying to stop the explosion. They're like bugs. they see pretty shiney light, they goes into it.

It wasn't necessarily an explosion. If you look, the energy "beam" didn't really rack up for long enough to "fire." To me it seemed that it was just a brillant explosion of white light. (Hypothetical explosion.)

For all we know, the light could have just been a shield generator that creates a forcefield round Earth (Ark.) Yes I know that is immensely unlikely, but I'm just trying to say that it could have been anything.

The chief takes a little escape pod off the covenant ship after killing a prophet who is disguised as Truth but really isnt, crashes on Earth gets knocked out and has a dream. What we saw is the dream. Afterwords, he will wake up and be like WTF?

I like that dream theory.
