To throw in my 2 pence, i'm going to state some revisions i think should be made to the current halo 2 matchmaking system for Halo 3.

First. HIDE THE LEVELS. A skill-level match system will be incorporated, that much is for certain, but please please please don't show the level you're rated at. Showing the levels in Halo 2 led to 90% of the bull-blam!- the good players had to suffer through; delevelers, cheaters, griefers, you name it. Hiding the levels means you're still matches against similarly skilled players, but the majority of the motivation to be a -blam!- will be gone.

Second. Institute player moderators. Give them low-level, but still useful powers. I would personally recommend the option to remove the option to use your mic. Yeah, sure we can do it ourselves, but why should other have to put up with it game after game? I'm not saying give random players powers to ban everyone, but recruit active, friendly and well known players who we all know would not abuse their powers. Frankly, regular posters in the now-defunct zanzibar have no chance. I'm speaking in my position as admin for the #1 natural selection server. More admins and more powers = more fun playing, as long as the admins are trustworthy. Just imagine, you're enjoying yourself, on a bit of a spree and some cretinous child comes up to you and jammily kills you and screams "OMFG I -blam!-UING P00NDS J00 YOU -blam!- -blam!- MOTHER -blam!- -blam!- I -blam!- YOUR MOTHER LAST NIGHT YOU -blam!- NOOB!!", the amount of satisfaction i would get from sending him a s polite message along the lines of...

"dear sir, you are being suspended from all halo 3 live access for 7 days, and when you return you will be on a 21 day probation with no access to voice or messaging."

...would probably cause a small earthquake.

How bout adding an custom game search (kinda like Optimatch in the Rainbow 6 Series, or BF2)? That way, if you wanna play SWAT, MLG, vechiles only, or whatever people can come up with, you'll be able to find it. Unranked, of course...
