I never knew what covenant meant so I just recently looked it up and it ment, "God's promise to man." Since the Elites are Covenant, do you think (at least in the game) that they're our saviors. The MC can't do it alone, he's only one man. He'll need all the help he can get, even if it's from an enemy of his enemy. Or am I just dumb? :P

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

I don't know, we'll see next year.

"Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer."

Danrod, I wouldn't call you dumb, however, you're half-right. The Covenant describes the alliance between various alien species (grunts, elites, etc.) in pursuit of a common, religious goal, assumedly the "Great Journey". I get this information from the manual for the original Halo: CE, so I kind of doubt that Elites are going to turn out being biblical saviors of Judeo-Christian Civilization. Besides, if the elites were to save humanity from the Covenant, who would they be saving it from? grunts? jackals? a few brutes left over from halo 2? That's my thoughts, anyway.

You can't take the Bungie-Bible vernacular (using names like Ark, Covenant, Cortana, not to mention the entire story arc of Halo has a Biblical mythology tie in) into literal context. The things that the names represent all tie in in similar to the way they do in Scripture. Halo is not a Christian game, but it certainly is the best example of a pseudo-Biblical story for a game that the world has ever seen.
