Subject: Do you think Bungie will be able to add Halo references in Destiny?

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

They had the song Siege of Madrigal from Myth in EVERY Halo game.

I think we will see references.

What? Got something against Yetis?

I'm guessing as long as they're indirect allusions that don't technically address that they're talking about the Halo Series, then sure.

But I honestly don't think 343 or Microsoft will care enough to stop the, from doing it.

If they do I will lose what little respect I have for them.

(I need to see some Halo 4 to make my full opinion of them. Anyone can remake a game).

Would they be able to? Yeah. But why would they want to?

I wonder what Halo song arty is thinking about adding to Destiny to be hidden for that entire series.

Halo opening suite perhaps? Halo 2 Guitar mix?

I don't think they have any grudges, and seeing as Microsoft and Bungie parted ways somewhat mutually, I'm sure that they'll be able to do whatever the hell they want. (Minus some)

Because in Halo: Reach, Marathon references practically disappeared no marathon on Keyes, on the ship, nothing.

Edit: Except for on the Forge A.I's eye.

Have you seen 0 brave new world? Bungie wasn't exactly bread and butter with M$.

There could be legal limitations on what Bungie can do now that they no longer own the intellectual property.

I am not trying to get into an argument. :p

343i used the same engine and just made another graphics layer on top. Not like making an entire game from scratch.

They also outsourced the Star Wars Orchestra and some other small gaming company.

They did good but lets see what they do with their own game.

They had the song Siege of Madrigal from Myth in EVERY Halo game.

I think we will see references.

They also had the Marathon logo spattered throughout every level in all Halos.

To answer your question: More than likely

Correction: a very cheap coat of paint.

Bungie has always been an advocate for independence, that was their thing. But they have had an "ironic" past.

First they got bought up by Take 2 becuase of an error on the Myth discs that caused millions in revenue to be lost.

They worked for Take 2 and were able to buy themselves back at the cost of losing Myth and Oni.

They needed a game that could sell a lot and money, so they got bought by M$ and made the Halo franchise. Now Bungie is a super famous game dev and can do whatever they want.

I am glad they are independent again and can focus on making games with less limitations and "the man" telling them what to do.

So many good games lost :'(

Key

Umm... Why can't Marty just make new music... O_O... Especially since they now have Salvatori working for them full time. I expect a totally new score with equally iconic songs.

Bungie has:
Marathon series
Pathways into Darkness (I think)
Gnop
Operation Desert Storm
Minotaur: Labyrinths of Crete

Not own anymore:
Myth Series
Oni
Halo series

Bungie is winning right now

The Easter egg was put there as a little joke from Marty. Myth was the first Bungie game he composed music for I think. Plus Siege of Madrigal kicks some serious ass.

Yeah but those 3 are the big ones (excluding Marathon of course) Like really, who else knows that Bungie made Minotaur: Labyrinths of Crete??

People who have Bungie's Link

Bungie also published the *cough awesome games weekend warrior and Abuse.

Minotaur was the FIRST multiplayer game on Mac so early mac users should know about it.

All of Bungie's games were big in their own way I suppose. Marathon was a popular Sci-Fi shooter in the 90's. Pathways into Darkness was pretty popular for early Mac users.
