So many good games lost :'(

Bungie has:
Marathon series
Pathways into Darkness (I think)
Gnop
Operation Desert Storm
Minotaur: Labyrinths of Crete

Not own anymore:
Myth Series
Oni
Halo series

Bungie is winning right now
...Crimson?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

They published it but since they are selling Crimson stuff in Bungie store I suppose they have most of the rights like M$ did for Halo and Take 2 did for Oni.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. Nope. There is literally no way possible way for them to reference halo. It just can't be done. I'm sorry.

What I mean is if there would be legal issues like they had with marathon in Halo:Reach.

Well Bungie still owns Marathon.

I doubt they will have any legal issues including some Halo related Easter eggs. Duke Nukem has Master Chief armor and they didn't get sued (but DNF sucked).

I doubt they could put anything in there that is directly Halo-related since Microsoft owns Halo, but I'm positive there will be indirect references.

Maybe one of your allies will shout something like "This is worse than those aliens!" That would be nice :)

I was thinking like music scores, Halo related posters, Halo-like Dialogue, etc.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Maybe there'll be a healthy amount of monkeynuts splattered across every level.

I'm guessing as long as they're indirect allusions that don't technically address that they're talking about the Halo Series, then sure.

But I honestly don't think 343 or Microsoft will care enough to stop the, from doing it.

If they do I will lose what little respect I have for them.

(I need to see some Halo 4 to make my full opinion of them. Anyone can remake a game).

I don't think they have any grudges, and seeing as Microsoft and Bungie parted ways somewhat mutually, I'm sure that they'll be able to do whatever the hell they want. (Minus some)

Have you seen 0 brave new world? Bungie wasn't exactly bread and butter with M$.

I've seen them! I'm not saying they were BFF's or anything, I'm just saying it sounded "mutual". 'Cause MS got the Halo series, and Bungie gets to build a new universe. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
I'm probably wrong, however.

Well I guess. They get to be an independent company at the price of losing the most loved and cherished franchise of all time.

Sounds like a fair deal...

Knowing Bungie they most likely will.

The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

I personally think so.

If I may rant a little bit: people need to stop caring so much about gnop. It's not that special. Sure, it was Bungie's "first game". But who cares? Really?

It wasn't an amazing game. It was a Pong clone. To a "t". It wasn't played by that many people, because, at first, the mac wasn't USED by that many people.

It was their first game, and nothing special. Nobody gives a -blam!- about Picasso's first stick figure he drew at the age of 5 and nobody cares about Mark Twain first learning to write letters when he was 6. They care about the end products. The platforms that those two, along with Bungie launched themself onto FROM that base (especially when that base is little more than copyright infringement).

OT: They might have IWHBYD type dialog to unlock that references previous games subtly, but I wouldn't expect much more.

Spread the love...

I expect they'll put at least a couple stuff in there in reference to past creations.

  • 12.26.2011 12:11 AM PDT

Directly? Probably not. My guess is probably due to things like copy right laws or something like that.

But I'm sure they'd probably infer it or hint it or something. Maybe an easter-egg somewhere. You don't go 10 years building one of the biggest videogame franchises, start a new one, and act like nothing happened.

  • 12.26.2011 12:31 AM PDT

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

tbh, I don't want any Halo related easter eggs, I'd like more references/ easter eggs from Bungie's older games. I'd just love to see a Poster with the protagonist of Destiny saying "(Name) Pfhor the win!" or a computer screen that has Gnop playing.

But they probably could, like Spartain Ken said, Mark VI Armor was in Duke Nukem Forever.

I want Bungie to hide one of these somewhere
