Subject: Unfair Matchmaking

I just started playing Reach on my own Xbox about a month ago but have played since it came out. I've noticed that on more than several occasions, I've been teamed up with other noobs against like 2 Mythics, Forerunners, etc. Does anyone else notice that? It's a bit frustrating and not fair since I'm trying to get better but don't want to get killed 75 to 15.

The trueskill system isn't very good to begin with, and with less people playing, it just makes it that much worse to find evenly matched people. Also, ranks don't equal skill.

Its true. It is harder to get better when it seems to be putting you up against people who you don't have a chance against to begin with.
I have seen a lot more of the forrunners and reclaimers out their then I did a few months ago. Not really sure why but I don't mind running into them at all. I feel good when I am able to beat them.

Why would you feel good about beating someone with a high rank when rank means absolutely nothing?

Rank still gives you a pretty good idea.

If someone is a higher rank, they have played the game ALOT, no matter how they got there.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

How they got there matters quite a bit, actually.

Hundreds of hours of grifball boosting does not a good player make.

Playing a lot has never made players good.

I've played against many inheritors who cannot get a single kill against some of my casual friends.

Or firefight, or campaign.

There's always room for you, If you want to be my friend.

Just keep playing even if it means losing. You will only learn from playing against people better than you, but may not enjoy doing so. I'm not saying that I am super good at the game, just better than average, so I would know.

Ps Rank in reach means nothing

Thanks for the input and to everyone as well. I've just noticed that most people who are Mythic, Forerunner, etc...8/10 times are really damn good and we get crushed. It's not so much playing against them, but when it's like 5 Mythics vs 5 noobs...that SUX. I like to learn n get better, I just don't wanna get crushed.

Hey Op, ever tried selecting the option where the game matches you up with people of similar skill? It may take a longer time to find a match but you might prefer that, or feel free to learn from the beatings how to improve your own gameplay.
