Man, you are ignorant Pred. Sure, Shepard is the best fighter in Mass Effect and can kick most of everybody's ass from here to next week and the weapons are pretty advanced. But Chief is the stronger and faster of the two. At range, Shepard might have a chance but in close quarters, CHief would win after a brief but furious fight where Shepard would live for a bit but eventually get pulverized.

the only thing which would give shepard an advantage is biotics, which i feel he put in the OP for that very reason.

Yea but I'm just going with the default, solider Shepard. His armor might sustain a few hits, then his bones start snapping.

The exact same could be said for Master Chief.

hahahah whaa? spartans can't have their bones broken

Well they actually can, but it is extremely hard to do so. Basically the grafting causes them to be very very resistant, to the point of deflecting small arms fire.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I cannot think of one thing that would cause the bones to break. They fell from Orbit and didn't have any broken bones.

@GreyLol

I am pretty certain he could in this case. kthnxbai

No.

Let's use an example in Halo 3 to show this. He fell 2 kilometers to hit the Earth, not breaking any of his bones and only knocked him out. Sure he had armor but it would take some incredible armor to survive that without breaking bones.

This results in the bones being virtually unbreakable. The coverage of this procedure does not exceed 3% total bone mass due to significant white blood cell necrosis

Nice exaggeration, but alas, it did not work. You sir, fail.

  • 12.30.2011 2:04 PM PDT

Yea there is that, but it would take something amazing to break the Chief's bones. I doubt a punch from Shepard could, maybe repeating punches to the same area but that would take awhile.

You lost all creditability after using halopedian as a source.

If they can fall from orbit, get mauled by brutes and elites, and survive numerous falls without breaking bones, it will take some EXTREME stuff to break the bones.

The Bones can be melted though.

BTW, that Terminal velocity fall was at the Keyship's re-entry velocity. FAR faster than terminal velocity of a S-II.

Ahyes, and Commander Shepard fell into an ice planet from SPACE. And was, as I recall Jacob saying, comatose.

And you do understand that he died and there wasn't much of him left? they rebuilt him at the cellular level.

  • 12.30.2011 2:10 PM PDT

I've played ME 2 and know the game well, thats why I've been trying to see your point of view. Shepard lost air in his suit before he descended, killing him. So the impact of if we would've lived or died is moot. You could counter saying we don't know if he died to lack of air, but i'm sure being a meteorite could kill anyone, even the chief. I do have to say it is remarkable that everything didn't got put to mush when his body impacted the planet.

He specifically says Shepard was not a clone. So no.

  • 12.30.2011 2:13 PM PDT

I believe he meant that they had to recover him cell by cell, making his body work again.

Shepard died before he even hit the ground. A puncture in his suit caused him to die. But still, the armor was left in pieces with some parts still intact, but his body was very destroyed. The only saving grace was the ice-planet, as it kept what remained at a cold enough temperature to keep it from decaying.

can you not read? i never said nor implied that he was a clone, i clearly said there wasn't much of him left and he was re-built at the cellular level. Which is where the reaper tech comes in.

  • 12.30.2011 2:16 PM PDT

His body was still intact, he was just a meat popsickle. They thawed him out and injected him with the Reaper particle, as seen in the opening of ME2

The simple fact that killing Shepard will only make him come back even more pissed off than before should warrant him a win.

Another point.

Master chief cannot be effectively grappled. His shields are constantly on, so if you try to grap him, you slip off, because the shields don't create friction. This means punches also slip off. However, Master Chief can manipulate the shield length, allowing him to grapple people.

I don't think they would be fighting in a cryogenic storage area, because otherwise, his body would merely decay and provide nothing left to salvage him.

OK then Shepard gets biotics because that is not quite fair, having 3x the strength of a normal human, 10x reactionary time frame, and supa-powa-arma, I don't think he would NEED to have this advantage really, but if he MUST, then it is only fair Shepard has access to Biotics.

What next? Cortana?

Hoboy...

nothing is truely fair. 100% fair is a complete tie, as no side has any advantage over the other.

God, Bioware is so bad at facial animation.

  • 12.30.2011 2:33 PM PDT

Well if Shepard gets biotics then it would be a neck and neck fight. He could push the Chief down, slam stuff into him, freeze him in place etc. So it would be a very close fight.

Indeed it would. I can see Master Chief getting very vocal and very frustrated with this fight. Lol, funny images in my head of this...

Biotics tend not to work well when the enemy has shields and weighs half a ton.
