There's health on both of the halos what the hell are you people talking about.Without health you would die the INSTANT your shields were down (which you dont) Personally the health should be like a mix between the first and second. There would be no bars to tell you how close to death you are but there would be a solid line of how much you can get injured before you die, meaning minor injuries go away but getting 20 rounds to the chest would stay and as for getting your health back there should be team activated health posts (meaning if a blue guy tries to go to a red one it wont work) and all around health posts for rumble type stuff. The time it would take will vary depending on how many and how severe the injuries are. Injuries may effect mobile skills as well meaning if you get severely shot in the leg a then youd limp making you a bit slower or getting hit in the arms would make you less accurate. Mainly what you have to keep in mind would be legs=mobility, arms=weapon capabilities, torso=solid damage, head=major damage that way you cant (easily) kill somebody by unloading into their lower legs. This could complicate the game though so sticking with solid health may be just less trouble.

Yeah? Gimme tertles.

Whoever is voting no, truely does not deserve to express their opinion (in my opinion ;)) - as far as I recall the health feature was removed from H2 beause of memory problems.

I hope we see something closer to the orginal GUI back in terms of the 'reload' and 'no grenades' warnings - the patronising multicoloured things in Halo 2 weren't my cup of chi.

Even the fact that the original Assault Rifle is shown in the trailer is symbolic to me, I'm taking it as a sign that not only do Bungie know what they're doing, but this time around they will be given the time they need (those unaware of the pressure Bungie were put under by Microsoft should read one of the many books / articles available).

In reference to a post about Health Packs on Xbox Live - If this in testing proved a bad move, it could simply be removed from the Multiplayer version of the game.

I also think the gameplay speed should be slower than H2, and thus more lifelike (yes, like Halo 1). Primarily because the gameplay speed in H2 drew away from the feeling of being on large terrain because you can move like you're on rollerblades.

Not that we know anything, we're not Game Developers... at the end of the day it's about how it all feels. Bungie could slave away granting peoples requests only to discover that they all feel horrible. I'd rather see quality over quantity in those terms.

i think having health makes it more realistic and armour should be included too because i found it stupid too lose my shield and then die as it felt like master chief was running around in a useless t-shirt and shorts with shielding system. too see armour and know he's alive but there's nothing too display the status of it is stupid as theres no point in showing him in armour if it isn't used!!!
Yes because a game about aliens and lazer guns and zombies is supposed to be realistic......sigh

Wonky, I'm not gonna flame you, or atleast try not too. But to say that because there are aliens, high-tech weapons and a 'undead' species means that the game shouldn't reflect realistic physics is kinda lame.
By your reasoning, there should be no reason why they can't jump thirty feet, have jet-packs and auto-homing bullets. There is such a thing as blending Sci-fi with reality, and you do that by adding sci-fi material and making it obey the laws of reality from the game. Hence, you get a Sci-fi game with -gasp- reality tossed in. Nothing illogical about taking a great idea and molding it around real-world concepts.

Hell no, better strategy evolves when you aren't running for health or killing your buddy so he/she can respawn with full health. Keep it out. More of a challenge.

i dont like the idea of health. You see, i love multiplayer and live, and if everytime i killed someone and they took some of my health away, i would have to find a pack. But with just sheilds, once i kill him, all damage he did to me would come back.

Yea I hated running around in campaign and mulitplayer looking for health packs. That red was just annoying

I voted no, though I am certainly in favour of Vehicle health, even as an invisible stat, so that someone in a decrepid ghost with an overshield can't take a rocket and some bulets before the ghost explodes.
However, I don't think that having the health *bars* back on the Spartans would really help at all. If you want 3 shots you're dead realistic, go play GRAW or something. It's closer than a sci-fi game I would imagine.

no, the shields should cover enough, health was just another thing you had to worry about while playing, not i dont even let myself get to where i'd be at risk of losing what little health i have...

also, just another thing for bungie it worry about placing on the epic-scaled maps thier undoubtedly making right now.

I want anything back that makes Halo 3 more like the original. Such as the old health system, old weapons(assualt rifle, old pistol), take away the lunging melee attacks, and take away the homing plasma pistol shot. And i wish vehicle damage did not go by the driver's health, it would be more interesting if you can run away in a vehicle, instead of having it blow up because you have no shield.

the system that is in Halo 2 is great. Having no health 2 care about and waiting for every heated battle is awesome!

No sheilds because i hate having to hunt or back track to find a healthpack also 16+ players on online play everyone on ur team would be fighting over who gets the healthpack.

  • 05.10.2006 1:44 PM PDT

RIP Halo 2.

Halo 2 does have health. You just can't see it.

I don't think its necesarry to have a health bar eating away precious screen space. And I do NOT want health packs. So here's how I want to know hwo much health I have:
When your shields are down, bullets are damaging the MC and his armor/health. So at any time, we should be able ot look at out hands and legs and other characters and see hwo much damage they have taken and how much of their health they have left.

Whoa, hold on one second. Better stragety evolves when you don't have to spend time looking for health? Are you serious? My man, when you have to leave your post to get health, the rest of the team has to have a "man-short" stragety. Having everyone at full health after every assult, small skirmish or out-right slugfest takes away from stragety. When you have to compensate for weakened players, you have to come up with a better battle plan. Having no weaknesses dulls the creative mind.

Prime example: Common game of CTF, Assault, King, Oddball.
Who's better planned? The team with half of it's players with less than full health that beats back the team with full health? Skill factors, yes, but planning around your weaknesses makes you a better stragtiest.

Feels like it won't make any major diffrence. But now if they do add I'd like to see it somewhere else than above the shiels. If you all remember how the demo looked of Zanzibar, before Halo 2 came out? That's something how I want it to be. And for the sake of everyone! Make Covenant vs. Human maps in MP! And give back damage to Plasmapistol.

Picking up anything beyond ammo in an environment makes a game completely unrealistic. I know it's a game but a game like this should try for a sense of realism even with the fictional elements to immerse the player and create a rich playing experience. Health Packs don't do that. You can dog on Halo 2 all you want, and I'll admit the gameplay was different, but when you learn how to recognize the difference and accept it you'll realize Bungie's genius in Halo 2.

Many people reconginze the differences and accept it. That's why we are expressing what we feel is and would be better.

Actually, health packs are in Halo. Everytime in the field a med kit is take out for a salve for a plasma burn or that bio-foam stuff for bullet wounds is just an example of a healthpack converted in a realistic application. But really, can you say that using something to restore health is more unrealistic than said health healing all by itself?

I beleive that question answers itself, no?

Also, I think instead of picking them up in the field, they should be in the base. You can carry only one at a time and can only be picked up in a base or 'outpost'. That would be the game equivlant of a medical field kit, AKA the Health pack.

Damn Straight.
Although i think you meant Who's better planned? The team with half of it's players with less than full health OR the team with full health?

The problem is How do you know your team mates health? I would suggest when you hit the back button instead of showing just names, lag and symbol it should list your team mates health.Just your team mates though not the enemy team.

Does it really matter wht we want?
I think Bungie is going to make the game the way they planned to make it, but thats just my opinion.

Kudos for correction my sentence.

As far as knowing your team mates health, just communicate. My clan always keeps other informed of their positions, enemy positions and ammo count. Know who has what , how many and where...mmm... just another peice of the stragety puzzle.

Hell nah.

I like it with no fall damage.
