Absolutally. By making an accident, one is punished with having lower health than others, until one finds a health kit. It balences a game out, and is the essence of a great shooter.

No, Halo 2's health system was far better.

I'd like it back, but packs were annoying. Maybe have it slowly regenerate. (Slower than a shield but not incredibly slow.)

In H2, if someone starts shooting your back, you're most likely gonna be the one to die if you turn around and try to fight (equal weapon/skill fight). I remember times in H1 when I'd be out of shields but turn around and still own the guy (and times when it happened to me. >.<)

I'm in the US Air Force stationed in Alaska. I've been chillin on bnet for nearly 5 years now.

I think health would be an interesting implementation to put in the game as previously was in Halo: Combat Evolved...I never was a fan of "wounding" someone in Halo 2, just to have their shields recharge 5 sec later because they hide behind a rock.

YES!!!

  • 05.10.2006 2:21 PM PDT

I am thinking that there should be viewable health, but it only recharges if you stand still because your guy needs to repair himself with biofoam and stuff. Also, I want people to realize that there IS health in Halo 2, its just not viewable and there is no health packs because it recharges itself, but its not like it itsn't there.

picking up shields added to problems, and its more fun to just have a shiled. Maybe a switchable option is in line? And health would [kinda] eliminate the combo.

I got to agree. Health packs would be great to have back, with all the new/old angles it would bring but mainly I want a health gauge. I've been in the position of having no sheild and having no idea if I can take one or two body shots before I die but I know I can kill the other guy before or after he kills me, but hesitated or leapt too soon and died. Knowing your exact health is helpfull and should be there, with or without health packs.

It's an FPS, not Pac-man. I don't want to run around grabbing health packs. It's unrealistic, too much focus off the actual playing.

Kudos for correction my sentence.

As far as knowing your team mates health, just communicate. My clan always keeps other informed of their positions, enemy positions and ammo count. Know who has what , how many and where...mmm... just another peice of the stragety puzzle.

Yeah but what if you're entering a base and cannot communicate.

Add the health system back, but no health packs.

  • 05.10.2006 2:39 PM PDT

no, i like being able to lose my shield, take a few hits, and not be like almost dead. with the health, you lose your sheilds you are scarred until you get health.

Does anyone here besides a couple people relise that H1 and H2 BOTH have health including your shields? In H1 it was visible, then they made it so you can't see it so it won't clutter up the screen even more than it already is. This is why people are always like "WTF, he killed me with one frag"in H2. Because killing someone with one frag is possible, as after you lose your shields your HEALTH starts going down. Also an elite makes a distinct noise when he completely is out of HEALTH, but I'm not so sure about the Spartans.

If you wish for me to show this to you send me a FR @ xSMxShyGuyx50x saying who you are on H2.

BLUTZE

Ok guys lets think about this a little bit. Considering that things in this world should make relative sense, it would not make sense for health to be implemented back into Halo 3 for multiple reasons. Most importantly, Master Chief's armor was upgraded in Halo 2. Would it make sense for the UNSC to say " ok new armor" and then in Halo 3, "no never mind, we are stepping back in technology, you can keep your obsolete Halo 1 armor"? Hmmm... I think not. Come on people (those who want to bring it back) it just wouldn't make sense. Another thing... Switching back to Halo one style health system would revive the whole jump damage thing. Although many people like fall damage (I am one of them), it just would not make sense and would plainly, look stupid. And BUNGIE is not a stupid crowd. Along the lines of logical thinking, did it ever make sense in Halo or in any other game for that matter for one to walk over a little white box with a red cross and behold.... you are revived!? We are in a new generation of gaming, a more real environment is being made with the extreme graphics and special effects. Bringing back the little white box would take away from that realism. In addition, BUNGIE already changed it and it works fine. Honestly, when i put in my Halo game just to give the old friend some life, I never really look at my health except for when I fall. So if Halo 3 just goes through with the Halo 2 health system, I think it would make most sense and it would eliminate a lot of hassle. And one more last thing (this has nothing to do with this topic), BUNGIE SHOULD NOT SHOW MASTER CHIEF'S FACE. I know a few people feel this way.

To respond to the "it provides more tactics" statements, if the Halo series was supposed to be a tactical game you would be able to lay down and shoot. You would be able to plant C4 or something at an entrance way to blow up anyone that comes through there. You would also not have semi automatic sniper rifles that are pin-point accurate. Health packls are just annoying to find, health bars just take up too much space and plus, these are Spartans we're talking about here. These guys can take a couple of bullets and move on to take a couple more.

Hell yes...I loved racing for Health Packs, it added more depth to the game. Besides, there was health in Halo 2, you just couldnt reheal yourself like the original. If you took damage without sheilds, it would show next time you had no sheilds as you would die faster. It wasnt overly noticable, but it was there.

I just want to know my exact health count...and btw, the whole "cluttered" thing is BS, Just a little bar on the bottom of the shield works for me, not a big tube down the side of my screen that says "HEALTH HERE OK!". Health packs also prevent camping in ways. If a camper is damaged to the red-zone, he has to search for a pack, even if it's ten feet away, he has to dislodge his position temporarily. So, VISIBLE health adds a whole new tier to the game.

---Yes, health packs were "unrealistic", but who cares? You go from RAMBO mode to conservative mode to survive, and making that transistion can be difficult. It adds strategy

---The system should have a shield recharge just like the H2 shield, and a health bar like in H1. But NO FALL DAMAGE (obviously). Fall damage was the major detriment to my health back in H1, because I was reckless.

  • 05.10.2006 2:55 PM PDT

Nah, hunting for health packs just takes away from the pace of the action. Not only that, but it makes in way easier to get yourself into situations where you have a saved point right after getting to one bar of health left. Then you are pretty much screwed and can't roll back.

This IS NOT an issue of what is more realistic, so don't even go down that road. How realistic is it for a "Health Pack" to magically bring you back to perfect condition? Not anymore realistic than not having a healthometer at all. It's a complete wash and matter of preference. My preference is listed above in my first paragraph thank you.

If we want to be realistic with health, then we just need to call it Halo 3: Advanced Warfighter.
