What's there to debunk?

There's nothing in that article that says anything definite.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I remember Jason Jones said he hated sequels. And I remember the first version of Marathon had to be cut becuase it looked TOO much like Pathways into Darkness.

But, Pathways into Darkness and Marathon are all part of the same universe.

Bungie's next game COULD be part of the same universe and be some totally different game.

Actually that universe imploded. Soooooo. Point: me.

They went Billions of years into the Future and the universe implodes yes, but They could of avoided it.

I think it was Durandal who said: Escape will make me God... and killed "himself"/"Itself"...

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Never trust Kotaku.

  • 12.26.2011 10:03 AM PDT

They've clearly said in subsequent interviews beyond that February 2010 article that their next title is something completely new.

This. I mean, remember that crap Kotaku was spouting that they had an inside scoop from a former Bungie contractor, about how Bungie treats their contractors like dirt? Blatantly false, yet they stuck by the story as if it weren't. They're the video game version of Gawker, that's all.

Never trust Kotaku.

Weren't they the ones who posted about Bungie firing half their programers or something like that? I didn't trust kotaku in the first place but that was a low blow... Peeps need to check their sources.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

No they don't. People need to get a story, and ideally to get it before any of their competitors get it. That means frenzy and panic and innaccuracy.

A story is worthless if it's false.

This is Kotaku of course. You expecting someone to just spill their guts over something?

I almost spat my drink out in laughter. You think Kotaku is a reliable and respectable game-news-site. How cute.

Maybe if you scrolled a little farther you would've noticed this.

That's why I dubbed it "scuttlebutt". I don't trust them to cook bacon for me let alone tell me game news but I like to be thorough.

The fact you even read Kotatu or even decided to make a thread based off an article by them, proves you do infact think what they write is good.

Wait a second, what the hell does that post even have to do with what you're suggesting?

Bungie returning to roots? If you can read, they say anything is possible, but they want to do something new. This article is almost 2 years old. Bungie have also clearly said since then, multiple times, "This is a new IP".

Why does this thread exist?

So, OP states that he doesn't take Kotaku seriously or put any faith into their articles, but by some weird logic you say he actually think he's good.

are you a wizard

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Quick, someone bust into their studios and take Ling-Ling's head! We'll get GNOP 2!

There was something about that in the letters to the webmaster, I believe it looked too much like Pathways Into Darkness because the first version of Marathon was built from the PiD engine.
