I was naive to think otherwise for several years. It's all about money. It's always been about money. They don't care about how games turn out, or addressing negative gameplay mechanics, exploits, ect, as long as they make their sales quota.

  • 12.26.2011 10:38 AM PDT

They obviously care more than other companies. They don't have to interact with us or support games after release, but they do.

  • 12.26.2011 10:41 AM PDT

Yeah, because they play Battlefield 3 with their fans because it's all for money. Shut up with this -blam!-, we've heard it a thousand times.

Yep, Bungie doesn't do anything to have fun with their fans, everything is just about money. It's not like they interact with their fans and ask them questions about the upcoming future though. That would be horrible right?

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

Cool. I guess their regular interaction with fans here on their site is all a front too, right?

Bungie is a business. The goal of a business is to profit, obviously they have to care about profiting, it's what puts the food on the table. Bungie does care about their community so much more than most other gaming companies. They play games with the community, the employees interact and joke around with us, we have humpdays and tournaments, charities, it's just awesome. If I ever work in the gaming industry, I hope to be a part of a company that is as involved in their community as Bungie is. <3

I guessing you didn't watch the ViDoc did you? Money is always an option (man's gotta eat right?) but saying that "they don't care how the game turns out" or addressing "negative gameplay mechanics" is just down right silly. If they didn't care how the game turned out then how are they still in business? They give back to the community (via relief efforts) and they put their heart into making a game.

Now onto the "Negative gameplay mechanics and exploits". I'm not sure how long you've been here but if you ever picked up a Halo game and played online you will realize that exploiting was met with a ban, in reach a credit ban (and sometimes a "time out" per say). Now Bungie definitely listen to the feedback provided by us. They make tweeks here and there accordingly (you shouldn't have 6 Spartan Lasers on one regular Big Team slayer game should you)? All in all I think that Bungie does what is needed to be done, yeah they have a quota to fill, but that doesn't mean that they "could care less about the game".

You guys a ignoring the biggest factor. Bungie ignoring all of halos faults.

You guys can't seriously think they care because they occasionally talk to fans I play other games online with them, right?

  • 12.26.2011 10:52 AM PDT

Watch the ViDoc, it might change your mind.

Also, they don't even -blam!- own Halo anymore.

So they shouldn't be held accountable for all of h3 and reach's huge faults that they ignored for years, even though there were massive amounts of complaints on the forums? I know 343 is in charge of halo, but that doesn't mean bungie isn't wrong for turning their backs to the fans.

First off they don't own the Halo Franchise anymore, which was said numerous times above me; that is 343 Industries baby now. But when Bungie did own it, they did everything they could to make sure the game was fair. If you backed out too much you were given a ban, if you exploited you were banned, and even in Halo Reach when you got to a place where you shouldn't have been, once Bungie found out about it they put a Kill Box there. Not to mention if you back out of too many games you were given a credit ban. They do what they can but nobody is perfect.

Hey! Listen! Could you show me some evidence other than that? Like.... can you, at all, disprove that Bungie interacts with their fans, and therefore doesn't ONLY care about money?

--Edit--

Oh, I get it. You're trying to be a troll. Awww, that's cute.

Halo's faults? Do you understand how difficult (impossible) it is to make a perfect video game? The Halo series is one of the most carefully and well-constructed game series ever made. Bungie employees try their hardest to create perfection. Faults are inevitable.

Look at the Call of Duty series, one of the highest-selling series of all time. I can't even begin to count the amount of flaws on CoD, but that doesn't mean Treyarch or Infinity Ward didn't care, I'm sure they did their best, and CoD is still very fun.

I don't think you've played Bungie's games long enough to truly understand or appreciate what they've done. But you are entitled to your opinion, it just makes me sad that you could dislike Bungie so much.

No, they didn't. They didn't address boosters, derankers, network manipulators, circle boosters, language boosters, exp boosters. Sure they banned some people but banning less than 1% fixes nothing. In Reach they didn't address op grenades, slow speed, short jumping ability, AA. Hell, their solution to fix ranked was to get rid of it with terrible and replace it with awful arena and call social, "competitive." Their are more problems than this though.

Posted by: Munitions lllIt pains me to do this because I know you're trolling, but how could they possible address derankers? The punishment for sucking is to lose rank. Should they have removed the punishment for sucking, and just let people keep their rank like in CoD?

Also, boosters got banned ALL the time in Reach.

So, please, shuttup.

If it makes you happy and will make you stop: I'll give you a 1/100 for effort.

Because you SUCK at it, doesn't mean they screwed up, Reach is one of the best gameplay in the Halo franchize, I really don't know what faults are you talking about but not because the game isn't perfect that doesnt mean they don't care about their fans. Go cry somewhere else.

Why else would they ask for feedback? Why do they need people to sign up for the beta testing program? Why do they have Ride Along events? The questions go on and on, but they all have one answer. They care.

They care enough to want feedback from the people who play the games. They care enough to want us to play-test their new and upcoming games. They care enough to want to play with us.

How in the world can you say they don't care?

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Every company cares for money. Everyone cares for money. Humans are greedy by nature. But comparing Bungie to other gaming companies (e.g. IW vs Bungie, 343i vs Bungie, etc), Bungie is one of the only companies I see that talks to their community on a regular basis.
