I think the closest we can hope for are wrist/blades (kinda like Republic Commando), or a Combat Knife. But honestly, Bungie is probably just gonna stick with the traditional 'smite' attack.

So, a long sliver of metal? How's that going to punch through an Elite's sheilds?

You think a human sword will but through covey armour?

No. The humans don't have to have an equal to every covenant weapon. It's extremely unrealistic and silly. People say the carbine is the covenant battle rifle, but it is pretty different from the battle rifle! All that they have in common is that they are rifles.. Same situation for pistols.

Nah, I just want them to do the shotgun justice this time (16 pellets Bungie, not 8).

Or it could be like metal gear solid 3... combat knife + pistol

Not a sword. Not realistic for that era of humans. Although it could be an electrical baton or mace ment for stunning people.

You're a cretin. Stop posting stupid ideas. Or at least confine them to one thread.

that is one of the most stupid ideas i have ever heard. what the hell are the humans going to do with a sword? put a little scratch on the armor of an elite? o yea and thats after you can get through the shield...so stupid... can everyone stop with the dumb ideas?

Sword? Why not use the shotgun instead... The sword was made available to use to counteract the shotgun. Humans aren't going to create swords for themselves to use, when they have long range guns. Swords are more than a millenium away from the time Halo 3 is set in. I'm sure the humans are not going to use something as primitive as a medal, clanky sword.

There is a parallel weapon for every weapon in the set.

Sword = Shotgun

Yes, dropping a 7-foot-tall, half-ton cyborg (clad in a nuclear powered battle suit no less) with a combat knife makes perfect sense.

If anything i would want a katana or something that makes me feel like a ninja. I love being a ninja and a glowing blue energy sword doesn't really satisfy my ninjaness.

I swear, all the stupid people who came here when Halo 2 was about to come out have come back to bother us even more. No, a human sword would be horribly out of place. It's a futuristic game, not medievel...

If anything it'd be a machete. If you look at the ODST's on Halo 2 you can see a machete sized combat knife holstered across their backs and plus Bungie was going to make a machete but they took it out (probably for a good reason)
so shutup...everybody...please

Just look at the pre-xbox screenshots and youll see the machete I speak of.

Yeah, a human sword is definitely a no-no. But, I've always wanted to see what a covey shotgun would be like. You know, just to see. Not saying they have to make it, because the weapons are pretty balanced right now.

No, you are retarded... a shooting sword? give me a break....

your probably one of those stupidass 'katanas can cut through every armor' people.... and one word would make a human sword which is made of metal useless: SHIELDS the sword would bounce right off...

I human sword would be sort of weird. I think this because, if you look at human technology at that time period, It works for progress forward. The energy sword, on the other hand, seems to me as a more symbolic weapon that elite commanders carry, much like how Civil War generals would carry swords into battle. Because of this, I think making a human sword like weapon would be making a weapon out of its era.

I think that it would be really cool, however, if they could make a combat knife. This knife could be treated like a dual-wield weapon, allowing players to shoot with one gun and take powerfull stabs with the knife (Very usefull when fighting Flood). It could have a hand full of different attacks, such as leathal slach with the trigger and a back stab with the b button.
