Wouldnt it be nice if we could make our own MP maps for H3?
Wouldnt it be nice if we could engineer our own Forerunner structures and Covenant cities?
Well lets hope that Bungie includes a form of map editor for H3, maybe in the vein of FC's map editor, but obviously with Bungiesque rings and bells.
It seems that the once simple console faring audience is begining to grow, and with that maturity comes the creative urge, the urge to make ones own maps.
How cool would that be?

Now I know this is just a suggestion, and a vein hope of appealing to the powers that be, but just think of the fun and frolics a map editor would allow for.

Well folks, I've said my piece. I take it y'all are with me on this?

ya, i think a map editor for multiplayer would be a flawless idea for the game. The original Timesplitters did it, and it was awsome to be able to put -blam!- together into a map.

I'm with you, as long as it doesn't take away from their ability to give us the best campaign possible. Halo 2s campaign left a lot to be desired.

Yeah, i like the idea, but make it simple...Like make it easily penitrable for player modders to really show what they can do. Like have a xbox live matchmaking for selected modded maps chosen by bungie and have people vote on them after the match

premade objects really limit what pone can do with a map maker...

but i vote yes for a seperate disc for just such a thing, in most RTS games u can make ur own map, then the other players simply download them before playing, this would work greatly for customs.

  • 05.10.2006 1:27 PM PDT

If there is a map editor for this site i would be glad to help aid bungie in making a site specificaly dedicated to maps for download...i know i wont be the only one with this idea soon as halo 3 comes out and has a map editor but im hopping to get bungie in on this idea aswell.. people would be able to submit there own maps for download and transfer them onto there 360..(of course have screenshots of the lv or a details description on what the map is about so people will know what there downloading)

  • 05.10.2006 1:31 PM PDT

Your capabilities will be very limited in a FPS map editor... at least the one's companies will produce because they don't want to focus much on the map editor rather than the game itself.

Timesplitter's map editor is still the worst thing ever. The best you can do is make a very, very bare and basic idea, and the maps get old after maybe 2 games of playing on it.

The best map editor ever was the one made for starcraft.

The best console game map editor - Tony Hawk series (TH2 was the best for it's time... still is better than timesplitters')

No...I'd rather have the game filled with a dozen or two high quality maps with excellent gameplay than have Halo 3 ruined by being flooded with terrible maps in custom games.

Map Edtior = NO
Map Creator = YES

It would be horrible if people made hundereds of modded verisons of the maps

BUT

If people could make there own maps, there would be loads of potential

It would be better to have a separte pc disc for making maps which you can then upload to a server and download on to your 360 or straight to your 360(if you dont want to share it or your doing beta's)

I really think the idea for a map maker is good, but I dunno how you could work it into a HALO game. Although I admit that it IS Bungie and they can do anything...
We're counting on you Bungie!

Halo is going to explode if they get into map editing tools. That would be just so friggen awesome being able to create your own missions, battlefields, and everything else you'd like.

Flame Sama's Portal. Home of the anti-emo teenage writer/gamer Flame Sama, stop by and read some time.

By the way, my gamertag is really 'Flame Sama'.

This account is inactive-it's a relic of a former time for Bungie.net, back when groups were riding high prior to the release Halo 3.

I loved (and still love) the Far Cry editor, so H3 with an editor ?

H3 will put an even BIGGER hurt on Sony's PS3 and the Wii !!!

(Or we could just have Sidewinder ...)

Hmm, I'll give some reasons why there won't be one...

- Halo, Halo 2, and almost definatly Halo 3 used Maya and Max to make their levels, which actually takes skill loads of people don't have.

- The game isn't designed like FarCry, where you just "raise" and "lower" terrain to make maps.

-I don't want to go into some Live game with some "Cooldude101's Land of Paradise" with 400 warthogs and a flat field with some turrets and no real gameplay. That's how FarCry and Pariah ended up, with a few rare exceptions.

Map-making for Halo is a complicated process, that wouldn't really be able to be put into a "Map Editor" format..

Besides that, Fourn44 just said it had already been announced... By someone NOT Bungie? Am I the only one seeing a problem there?

i agree. one reason bungie gets tierd and they may get sick of making maps and releasing au's and map packs.

He's just a genius in the computer and game world. Enough said.

I don't like most console map editors because of the difficulty of using a controller causes them by nature to be less complex and mostly drag and drop, where as computer based editors allow for a huge amount of control and abilities. I think they should set up some servers to temporarily store map data that can only be dowloaded by the uploader to there 360. So you can build your map from an advanced computer level editor, then go to some part of BNET and upload the file. You then go to your 360 and download it. You could also send maps to other players 360 to 360 or comp to comp and have them upload it. I also have an idea I got from a very popular UT program. Basically when you play on a custom map you have the option to download the map from your cache. This would only be possible if the creator gave permissions to do so (like maybe have a map setting that determines copyrights).

dudes this is for 360 not CP it already has one. anyway map Creator would rock, all bugie has to do is get editing tools items to palce everywhere building fire everything. i cant be hard compared to what the chief does.

What they need to do is has a setup for the map maker like the Tony Hawk games when you make a skate park

It should be like the halo pc editor HEK(halo editing kit)

  • 05.10.2006 2:02 PM PDT

Don’t get mad if I flame you because you cannot spell, or because my three year old has better grammar and etiquette than you.

I would skip the map editor in favor of more maps actually.

Seeing as how you would have to share your maps to be able to play them in matchmaking, and I dont want to have to wait for everyone to download it so I could play with them, I would much rather just have a lot of maps available in favor of a map editor.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

remember, with Halo anything can and will happen. I'll bet you that someone would create a map then find a way to worm it into online multiplayer ranked games...and don't give me that "the 360 is different and is hack-proof" stuff...cause NOTHING is hack proof
