i would enjoy playing them, but they would have to very very brainy to act like real players.

easy compadre! maybe someone saves a crapload of money to get a 360 but doesnt want to pay 60 bucks annually to play online

However
i agree on the no-map editor... I think having standard map settings brings out the true player in you. Your skill will determine your output.. not the map.

I would also like to see online Co-Op. but bots would attract thousands more people that dont have Live.

I don't think Bots in MM would be practical (i.e. CTF, Assault games...etc as stated above) but i am all for having Bots in Custom games (Team Slayer, FFA...so on and so forth) for practice...but i don't think Bots would be able to work in specific custom games....like Zombies for example.....

awesome post...bots would be cool in custom games

no no... i wouldnt want bots in MM either. But custom games most definately..

think about it. You could play 1v1... 2v2..3v3.. or 10v1 ANYTHING you wanted. Up to 8 different teams.. Any objective game you could DREAM of without the hastle of finding players.

Now THATS what i call a CUSTOM game

Most marriage is based on love. If two people really love each other, gender should have no baring at all.

I could still play with myself.

umm...

ROFL

Anyway, yes, bots would be fun! And to add on, how bout' a game type called "waves" where you can create waves to come at you containing like, 100,000,000 enemy units, or something like that. I've always wanted a big war in halo, and to blow up 30 grunts with 1 rocket blast!

OMG...no bots

1. It will take away from the development of other aspects in the game.

2. Halo is quite complicated when it comes to jumping and strategy...not simply running in a general direction and shooting what comes in your path. (aka Battlefield 2 bots)

3. I already said this, but Halo 2 is ridiculously complicated when it comes to strategy, players do so many different things when the beginning of a game starts. How can the bots possibly cope with this?

4. When Bungie does something, they want to do it right (same with Blizzard and StarCraft Ghost...they won't release it unless it's good). Bungie is not going to invest time and money into something that will definently fail.

I doubt many agree with me, but I'll toss in my opinion anyways. Halo has always been a strategy game. You can only win with a good strategy. Bots know how to aim, to shoot, to kill... but they don't know strategy. Having bots wont help as much as many think... but thats just my opinion. I think it should be human vs. human 100% of the time.

I hate dial up

My friends dont have internet, and it gets boring killing them all the time, we need bots to kill and to practice fighting on

  • 05.10.2006 2:35 PM PDT

yeah, in case your XBL is down and you don't have anything to do but campaign, yeah, because you might want to hone your skills as well on the maps. and what better way then to be put into the real action without being killed as fast.

You can't do a very good job "hone[ing] your skills" against a person that is new to Halo, so how do you expect to do that against bots that are even more predictable?

And even if there is an advantage, is it worth the trade-off? Bungie cannot implement bots into the game without using time, time that could be spent elsewhere.

for everyone complaining about not being able to strategize, like i said before: You could use the D-Pad for basic commands depending on what your doing
i.e. warthog commands :get in, drive , get in turret ,open fire

then when you are on foot maybe commands like : Follow me, hold positions, spread out, or run a muck!! lol

  • 05.10.2006 2:44 PM PDT

remember there's a reason they weren't in halo 2. They would only be good for slayer and modes that focus on killing, plus they'd either be cheap or to easy to kill.

they need to have a gametype with bots that is like territories, so when you gain a territory you get a certain amount of bots. like a pair of hunters or even like a few marines

ooooooooooooooohhh! yes! i thought it would be good for Halo 2 but bungie didn't put 'em in. the engine might not support them though

it worked well in counter-strike, try to plant a bomb against the highest level AI in CS and you might change your mind...

need to make them for this specific gametype so that it would be simple designing and they would just walk a preset pathway to the closest territory, which the best for that would be hunters for each territory gained

nerdums

bots, no no and no
dpad comm double NO NO.
Headsets are not just for crap talking and discussing the price of weed, developing inter team comm is the key to winning, tapping a generic command like "get in" takes your fingers from the buttons they need to be at, its far easier to tell someone what to do and tell them where people are etc.

as for bots, complete waste of time, you will never perfect any skills playing bots, a more effective use of your time would br to just jump around the map on your own to find good escape routes, or snipe spots etc.

i know some people dont have live! but bots are no substitute, instead of paying $59.99 on need for speed 71 or smackdown 3256, the money speant on live will far surpass your next five game purchases in quality and value

the end

i think in cuoms bots would be a good addition if you could controll there skill levels but in MM i dont think they would be that great, i also like the guys idea about the waves and seein how long you can survive

I would like bots for non-xbox live users. Maybe they would be good for a small group of guys to play a custom with but in matchmaking, ranked or non ranked I dont want bots (assuming halo 3 has matchmaking). Now if there are bots there names should be bot-1, bot-2, bot-3....... because theres nothing like playing unreal trournement for the first time and trying to talk to your teammates only to realize 3 days later there just bots. :P

1. You wouldnt use the headset to talk to the computer.
2. If you are THAT serious about beating the computer (since bots shouldnt be used in MM) that you dont want to move your thumb 3/4 of an inch... then i feel bad for you.

also.. it takes just as much time to hit the white button as it would to tap the D-pad

the only way it would work is if we put it as a special gametype with bots that you gain after gaining a territory, and it would only work with people and bots. like it owuld be once you get a territory you would get a pair of hunters and then they would charge the closest territory and protect it while it waits for you to come get it and they spawn at the territory that they came from every 5 seconds after they die. The AI would have to have little programming just follow a specific line to the other territory and attack playes on the way like the marine AI would do in campaign. And this should be called conquest

Bots would be good. I know this may sound weird, but when you are playing the game and it's daytime in the game and you have allies(Example is COD2) it makes me feel like there really is somebody there. Those bots have personallities. I guess that's the magic of a 360.
