I wouldn't mind bots. Like Perfect Dark Zero, i'd like to feature in which you can use both bots and live players in one game, incase you do not have enough players.

It'd be awesome to have survival as a gametype...There's two teams and a hella lot of flood and whoever survives longer than the other team, wins. Each has a base with turrets and stuff, sabotage a key strategy of course.

Hell yes! Especially because Frankie posted something about the AI being so good now... I think we could have some fun with bots, heck make your own training games.... it'd be great

I would like 2 see bots in multiplayer but only in slayer... I think it would be 2 much for Bungie 2 incorperate bots and should add better things like more gametypes. They should also include interactive maps.

like it owuld be once you get a territory you would get a pair of hunters and then they would charge the closest territory and protect it while it waits for you to come get it and they spawn at the territory that they came from every 5 seconds after they die

i dont think taht would work...think about.. it starts out 6v6... then its 8v6..then 10v6...the game would end so fast

  • 05.11.2006 3:16 AM PDT

It would be a great addition but I wouldn't want them to spend too much of their time on it. If it's not too much extra work to use the same AI that they will have in campaign then sure.

It would be a good addition for the people who dont have live.

i hate the non skilled assault rifle
i hate the flawed meleesystem
i hate the flawed "trueskill" system
i hate the clufted maps
i hate the matchmaking system which needs 5 minutes to seek for a game

anyway i still love h3. but... how long?

we need bots in multiplayer maps to train strategys.

I said No in the Poll but only because there wasn't a "Yes but only if they are implemented correctly" option =D

No Bots. It would be too hard to have their AI be as good as a player is Halo 2 had to many things were in combat you could jump around crouch jump all these things like shooting enough to the point one melee will kill the person then meleeing. Stuff like that would be really hard to do with AI.

People with poor depth perception tend to go the extra mile.

Uniquely Hard Sniper Map

I don't know if anyone realized this but Bots were already put in Halo: CE and Halo 2; they're just in campaign and not multiplayer. H2 Legendary is stinkin hard so that shows that Bungie can create AI that is very difficult to play against and also feels real. They would just have to put that campaign AI into multiplayer. While strategy game types (CTF, Assault, etc) might not work, others, such as slayer and "survival" (if it is made) modes, could work. However, we (as the community) cannot say for sure if bots will work for sure in H3 MP; Bungie will have to test it. I just think bots would be a good option to have if they could be done successfully.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Bots are entirely possible. I like the idea. The people who don't have Live would have something to expand their gameplay experience.

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

AI will never realistically behave as a human player would. Bungie's is better than many others, in that (with the exception of the Flood) your enemies don't tend to charge you in waves, but still I have yet to encounter a bot in any game that was like playing a real person. I say no to bots, but if it's optional, I guess they can do what they want.

I would want bots just so when i don't have anyone on, or my friends want to do something i don't feel like doing at the time, i can go pwn some bots.

the point of gaining the AI is (think turf) both teams get their main territory and the hunters for both teams rush the scarab. whichever team ends up getting that territory gets extra AI and they then gang up on last territory. It is perfectly even just the cost of losing a territory is greater although comebacks are still possible. with careful planning hunters can be taken down but they are mostly just a distraction

on big maps then like say there are 5 terrotories. the start will end up with each team getting like 2 territories and then a massive battle ensues to get the middle one. whoever wins that will slowly get one of the other teams two and finally get their last one. But the fun parts are making your last stands, coming back and charging into battle with a living tank next to you.

Two words: Perfect Dark. I'm an old school gamer, and when PD first hit the N64, I was thrilled. It had everything Goldeneye didn't; including bots.
Consider this: You can't link an N64 to another N64. People aren't always around to play against you in multiplayer. And even if they are there, you have to split the screen, which always sucks.
Solution: bots. While the XBOX and the XBOX 360 have the capability of linking to other consoles and Live, it's not always possible. And no matter how good a game is, the campaign will get old after a while.
I don't expect Bungie to put in bots, and I don't think that's gonna stop anyone from buying the game. But if they decide to surprise us, that's one more thing to love about Halo 3.

bots are cool

I wanted them in halo 2.

  • 05.11.2006 3:19 PM PDT

bots would be good only if they werent on XBL. I have counter-strike 1.6 and they always suck and are a easy kill. I like the idea of having a difficulty rate for the bots.

Guys, were in the next generation. Bots wouldn't be necessary when you've got a community of over 3 mililion people to play against over the internet.

Not everyone has live....

Tough -blam!- then, hombre. Bungie has said themselves that bots for Halo would be a waste of development time, and they aren't particularly known for going back on their word.
You might say that, but what about the whole "not too many ppl play mlg" and " were not going to make an mlg playlist" now look at rumble hardcore, which is about 80-90% mlg types...if theres is enough of a demand I believe they would do it, otherwise they wouldn't be very smart...and everyone knos bungie is smart...right :)

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

Personally... I would just like training bots that I can use against battles against one another... Radient AI for multiplayer for training porposes only...

Having them in actual matchmaking? Uh... no...

Good point.. it does show that Bungie has the capability

That one playlist would work out perfectly so that it could be in custom games only and just not include that playlist or put it as no ranked in matchmaking

Yes, bots are a great plus for any game. However, due to the complexity of Halo and the physics, bots would be extremely hard to configure, AI wise.

Doubt we'll see them in Halo 3.
