The ring in the first few moments of the trailer in teh backround is not the bridge unless the whole lake/ocean thing around it dried up. In Halo 2, the bridge was over a huge span of water...although it could either have gotten zapped or something...

Have you read the books? The covenant ships can boil and ocean easily so I'm pretty sure its still the bridge...

  • 05.10.2006 1:56 PM PDT

I believe its the bridge and the water dried up when the blast went off

It's the wrong shape. it looks more like the sydney harbour bridge. The Mombassa bridge is more like the golden gate.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

According to GameJunkieJim, they are turbines of some sort, much like the Zanzibar...just larger....

I'm sure there is more than one bridge in Africa.

Personally i think it is the New Mombassa bridge, they're the end sections of the bridge, and yes when the covie "glass" a planet the plasma would evaporate water ;)

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

The thing is a considerable distance away. I think that it is the bridge. Think of it this way: there was a reason the the covenant landed in metropolis in the first place. Plus, it looks a lot like the bridge.

The tree's are the only inconsistancy with the structures being the bridge, but it could always be that that part of the game is set a while after the planet was glassed.

Its possible, lol

That would mean that the covenant would have glassed the planet, making it inhabitable. I doubt the covenant would glass Earth, since it is the location of "hidden forerunner secrets". BTW, the trees would be dead.

Again... there should be no more of these threads.... it is the bridge....

bungie refered to a "public works" easter egg in the trailer... ie ---> the bridge!

they already said it... so stop the debate!

Actually i think its the bridge come to think of it. The water may have dried up but theres tree's and a road sign from the view we see. We must be viewing the bridge from the a point of land or somehow tree's grow underwater and they needed road signs for the fishys

It's been a while, suffice to say, since we last left off. The majority New Mombasa was blown up when the slipspace rupture happened. Then, I'm not sure how many of you know your basic botany, but when a fire happens (in this case, a slipspace rupture), after a couple years, plants start to regrow well, if not better, than they had first. Certain evergreens can only respawn by fire. The fire opens the cone, and the cone sends the seeds into the soil. Possible? Very.
