"Out of the darkness, These blades shall light our way"

What are your own thoughts on Sangheili, be it about their culture, fighting style, tradition, or way of life. I would like to hear other people's opinions about it.

I think their culture is a mix of Japanese Samurai and Roman culture; It's all about Honor.

Personally I'm trying to write covenant history and culture but about sangheili I think is somenthing like samurai but I think that zealots exists before covenant and are aprticulary of sangheili.
Do you like it?
Unforutnatly I'm left hand so I'm not a painter but if you like I could try to draw somwthing.

Short sighted and close minded. Basically, people are stupid; Individuals are smart. I think that sums them up quite nicely.

Theres a reason for everything, not through the use of religion, but via the power of LOGIC AND REASON!!

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Before Glasslands? An honorable race that had strong faith, but had the resolve to question what the Prophets were telling them.

After Glasslands? More of what Anton said.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Before the Elites joined the humans I think they were hypocritical, religious nuts. They spoke of honor, yet glassed planets from orbit where humans had little to no chance to defend themselves. Real honorable.

We should know better, because we are better.

They were pretty cool guys. They had lots of skills and didnt afraid of nothing. Then they started working with the brutes against the humans and tried to kill Thel. I am disappointed.

They're my absolute favorite race in all of Halo.
The whole "space samurai" concept with them is really rather fun and intriguing. They're definitely the best race out of all the Covenant, imo, since they're honorable fighters and they're not blind (or as blind at least) as the other species in the Covenant since quite a few of them expressed doubts concerning the Prophet's teachings before the Great Schism.

And they stopped the war with Humanity once the Prophets lies were exposed and helped to end the war, so that's another plus for me.

The saddest part about that is they are the most blind out of all the races since they are the only ones to believe it anyway.

Brutes- weren't in the covenant long enough to be indoctrinated, even then we know that there are brutes that didn't follow that crap anyway.

Grunts- You have to be crazy to think they "honestly believed". They just followed to keep their race alive since they are the lowest caste and to get off their cold homeworld.

Jackals- Were never indoctrinated nor did they ever believe

Lekgolo- Only joined to save their race (like grunts) and use the covenant for travel.

Drones- Debatable since we don't know much about them. Though i will say they were easier to control since the covenant works much like their hives.

When it comes down it it The Elites were the only ones dumb enough to follow such a religion.

whatever happened to rtas vadum?
That badass elite ultra commander in halos 2 and 3?

(sort of)OT: The sangheili honor system is comparable to the japanese samurai version or even the one used by WW2 Japanese soldiers.

What with honor killings including suicide by swords and stuff...

Differently from you I studied Japan in WWII but I agree with you but I don't think they prefer to die in stupid ways but I think they consider theirself superior so really think to be able to win every battle.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

They claim to be oh so honorable but really they aren't very honorable. They kill unarmed women and children with no hesitation, mercy, or guilt.

Plus they run away when you fight them sometimes as well as screaming out in fear occasionally.

And in Halo 2 they sometimes say 2 things at once.

The Elites were in a crusade with the covenant; The Prophets told them killing innocent people were part of the Great Journey and what did you expect. They thought it was honorable walking in the footsteps of their gods.

After the Fall of the Covenant and the truth revealed, you could imagine how the shock impacted their people and culture;
The Elites would now see that their honor was more like murder.

Maybe the Arbiter and his followers would see that, but I don't think Telcam's followers would feel the same way...

His character is not convenient to the caricature stereotype that 343i views the Elites with.

I think they're interesting as far as fictional alien races go, probably the most interesting in the Covenant. I'd like to see them in Primordium.

Have you read Glasslands? He's a character from Glasslands, a Sangheili religious zealot and leader figure.
