Subject: Calling All Gamers 30 and Over - Join the Ancient Warriors

If you are 30 or over and are seeking a fun, MUTUALLY RESPECTFUL place to play and discuss Halo, or life in general, then the Ancient Warriors are the group for you.

We've been together for almost four years and have almost 200 members across the globe. We know what it's like to balance the demands of life - career, family, making a mortgage payment, etc. - with our gaming needs.

Membership is open to all skill levels, and we have regularly scheduled events throughout the week, ranging from instruction in weapons, map familiarity and awareness, vehicles to Halo 3 nights, and other things Halo. We also hold tournaments, both within the group as well as versus friendly rival groups. In addition to this, we almost always have a group of us online and ready to do battle.

Interested??? Visit our Group Home Page for more information, or feel free to send me a PM.

"The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night."

Truly one of the few great groups out there for people who just enjoy gaming.

I have been part of the Ancient Warriors for almost three years and have never been in a more positive and friendly gaming environment. If you are looking for a way to learn and practice without the frustration that comes from dealing with some of the less polite individuals you might encounter through the normal matchmaking process, then you might have found the right place. I have learned more, had more fun, and made more friends in this group than I ever would have immagined.

Clan match?

I am one of the newer members. This group has been nice, open, and just plain fun. I've had a couple of Lifetaculars and WIFEtaculars that have hindered the amount I can play, but these guys are always there waiting to team up for planned and unplanned fun!

I still can't believe that someone forged a toilet...

We have a few members who are younger than 30. We all are as active as our age permits... we have members who are in their 60's. I, myself am 58. Once I've had my nap, I'm very active. lol

All kidding aside, we currently have 196 members. As in all large groups, you naturally have folks that are very active and those who keep to themselves. It's also affected by our demographic - we really do have to balance our gaming time with all the outside demands that come from being an older gamer...I can usually only manage three nights a week. However, we have a core of at least 50 members that routinely participate in the various events that we hold and that are online most nights, and almost half of our members have been with us since we began, almost four years ago.

Basically, we are not a "clan" but more of a "group" of like-minded individuals, who like to play Halo (and other games), and who wanted a refuge from the hostility that unfortunately seems to permeate the online community at large. We don't isolate ourselves from the online community, but it's more fun to face it with a group of friends.

I have as well, I'm not on much these days, as I have a 5-month-old son and a 2-year-old daughter, but when I have the chance, I have never had more fun on XBL than I have with the AWs.

I've been with the group a long time. It's been great! Lots of things going on and lots of AW's on to play with. What I like the most is you don't need to do anything to be part of this group, just need to be old enough. The group has enough people so you can find people who enjoy playing whatever it is you like.

Try "mature". When you grow up you'll understand (maybe). I am 38. I have a job as an Auto Technician. I am not the lead tech, but when the boss is out of town, like this week, the shop is mine. Extra responsibility = more hours. My ex-wife/fiancée (dare you to figure THAT one out) is an ER RN. Her hours are psychotic at best. We have 3 kids between us with #4 on the way. We have school activities, sports and any other random thing that needs to be done when you own a house and cars. Now, finding a group of such wonderful people who can understand what it takes just to hop online for an hour has been nothing short of magical. Plus our group being globally diverse.

Oh, and for the record... some of these "old" Ladies and Gentlemen can walk circles around 75%, 80%, 90% of the general gaming population.

You say that like it's a bad thing...and by the way, we prefer the term "chronologically challenged".

Hey Ghurt...who do you think makes the world go around? Kids?

  • 12.27.2011 9:48 PM PDT

Now then, tell me. What did Miggs say to you? Multiple Miggs in the next cell. He hissed at you. What did he say?

*Pass my reading glasses dear. I can't quite make this out*

I've been with the group a good couple of months. They are an excellent bunch of guys and gals.

If you prefer to listen to kids begging you for the power weapon you have just picked up or maybe singing you the latest Lady Gaga or Kylie song then that's cool. I however prefer not to do that, so I joined this group. No Kylie songs here unless you ask really nicely.

If you're looking for a well organised group with lots of game nights and lots of fun then this group is for you.

And that sounds like a kid that hasn't left his backyard yet, let alone been around the block more than once. Age is just a number. Someday you'll understand that.

Back on topic. In the short time I've been a member of the Ancient Warriors I've had a ton of fun gaming with these guys and gals! As someone above me said, there are always members online to game with, and they're more than willing to offer any help or advice you might need with a game. In my humble opinion the Ancient Warriors are the best group on B.net! You won't find a better group of people to game with, talk to, and have fun with!

"Is this true, Raia? Where are you now? Are you looking down at me now, knowing what I can't see? Tell me. Tell me what I have to do. I'll do it. I'll do it for you." - Jul 'Mdama "The Thursday War"
"Dreamscape". Love that song(music) from 009 Sound System. I could picture Grunts dancing on the sidelines at Club Errora and the Sangheili nodding to the beat. No Jackals or Brutes allowed on the dance floor! Just me and my special Sangheili, Jul 'Mdama. <3 <3 <3

I'll say!! The best group ever!
I am 43, have been a member for almost 10 months and enjoyed it very much since day 1. When I joined, I barely knew how to play and since I have joined, I think I have greatly improved my playing skills by 1000%, thanks to these guys/gals. I love the fact that when we play BTB or custom games(Halo Reach & Halo 3) as a group, we have a blast, win or lose. Never a disappointment at all!! I made some great friends and am thankful for being spotted by Maddog and B Sea for inviting me to join.
Thank you AWs, you all have made gaming a fun part of my life now!! =) SUMO!!

I am a resident Sangheili too......LOL!!

The AW's are the absolute best group available for mature gamers. Hands down. Been a member for quite some time now.

  • 12.28.2011 7:28 PM PDT

Ancient Warrior.

A mature group for gamers 30 and over on Bungie.net

My wife and I have been part of the AWs for several years. The diverse members really make this group wonderfull. A mesh of personalities that really can make you just stop and laugh.

Best gaming group I've ever belonged to.

  • 12.29.2011 5:50 AM PDT

I am a newer member, not a very good player. I have never been mocked, jeered, insulted or otherwise made to feel anything other than welcome around the AW's. The same canNOT be said for the HALO community in general. I have attended some classes, not as many as I would like, I am still bad, but that is OK, it's a GAME! Enjoy it totally and wouldn't pass up the conversations for the world. I still HATE bugs!

Last night, or early morning as it were (12:30 EST), I joined a group of AW's for an impromptu game night hunting down some Reach Cheevo's. While I have all of the Reach Achievements, playing with AW's is a laid back experience with plenty of opportunities for laughter (Infection: Player XXX was Infected by Kitty. Yeah, that happens when you get married, har har).

I didn't turn on the XBox expecting to be on until 4AM, but I was. Great ad-hoc game events, planned game nights (a myriad crossing many nights), and top notch instructors.

And you sound like the typical problem with current gaming population. At least this group of players doesn't wet themselves until they get their way...

The bottom line is, we win some... we lose some... but in the end, we at least know our teammates will not grief or quit out on us on purpose.
