If earth's a Halo...why is it a sphere?

First of all, the Earth is a geoid, not a sphere.

Secondly, there had to be a starting point somewhere. They had Earth as the main Halo/starting point, and then built rings at specific locations throughout the galaxy at sufficient distances apart in order to wipe the galaxy clear of all sentient life.

I believe that the whole of Earth is the ark, not a part of it. I seem to remember in one of the novels when Dr Halsey and John, along with the other Spartans try to escape the base underground on Earth and they come across the weird rooms and stuff. It may just be my imagination or I think I may have intergrated part of "The Magician" into that lol.

Ya it's not new, but it's more substantiated now... and don't go off saying you invented it, I have at least 3 friends who don't even use this board who were sure they were the first to come up with it, don't assume you thought it first.

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

Ok, in the announcment from Bungie about the release of Halo3 Bungie states that the ancient artifact was buried in the sands of Africa. This ancient artifact is most likeley tha Ark. Which shows that the forerunners activated the Halo rings while on earth. Therefore, the forerunners were the first humans who if we look to real history originated from Africa. This shows that the forerunners were the first humans, who after activating the Halo rings (which wiped out all sentient life.) Began to repopulate the world starting with the earth.

P.S: The ark is based off of the Biblical ark which saved humanity from the flood. And the Halo rings only wipe out the floods food source not the actual flood.

i agree, noahs ark must have carried the seed of every animal, and life form around (not just on earth) and after the activation of halos it must have sent these seeds to other planets

Any speculation as to what the supposed Arc is doing at the end of the trailer? If that was it activating the rings, it must have just been included for effect.

Humans, are not decendants of the Flood. The Flood has to many differences in physology and function than humans. Besides which, the Forerunner's discovered the Flood on the gas mining planet of Threshold.

hello---- we can be a combo of flood and forerunner-- the forerunner could have offset some of the flood's features

I dont think that is Spartan 117 in the trailer. I keep hearing about how the gloves are different but they look the same to me, albeit with a graphical upgrade. However a graphical upgrade cannot explain the change in the armor, or rather lack of change. Spartan 117 was wearing Mk. VI armor during the events of Halo 2, but that is not the armor in the trailer. Mk. V armor and Mk. VI differ visually mostly in the helmet and shoulders. The torso also looks tighter on the Mk. VI but that is too suttle to work with for the little amount of footage we have on Halo 3. If you compare the helmet design of the Mk. VI to the Mk. V you will notice that the forehead is more pronouced in the Mk. VI, in fact the Mk. V doesnt have one at all its helmet blends the crown of his head directly to the visor. Also the Mk. V helmet is a lot more bulky and wider. Also there are vents on the chin of the Mk. VI and the Mk. V has vents on the jawbone closer to the ear. Now for the shoulders the Mk. V featured larger vents that had openings in line with the ear however the Mk. VI had its vents closer to the back and opened basically up, the trailer's (Mk. V) were open to almost front. It might be one of the other Spartans as they did not recieve a complete suit of Mk. VI armor to our knowledge, the reappearence of the AR leads me to believe that it is Kelly as her armor was Mk. V and badly damaged during the events in the novels.

Halo 2 lives on.

Here is my theory...I think that the "Holy Artifact" that is on Earth is indeed the ARK. Now, (this involves Bible knowledge) if you go back to H2, you will notice that there are 7 HALO RINGS....This is the number that represents GOD ( 777 ) ....Now, I dont know how that would play into anything, but it is definately something to think about......Back to the point....In the early life with Adam and Eve and so on and so forth, after some generations there was Noah...He was told by GOD to build an ARK to protect him and his family from the FLOOD that was soon to come....

i dont understand your mindset on gravemind. it is entirely possible that Gravemind is the flood leader, and the flood bring him organic matter to keep living or whatever their purpose may be, but still, how could he communicate with every single flood form at once and still be able to function as a seperate entity. the flood may "report to him", but i dont believe they are directly controled by him

He probably communicates like the brain from Starship Troopers.

Um you lot may have already been throught this but there are two famous arks in history. The first one is noahs ark like you have all mentioned, which seems to play along with the whole flood theme, mabye master cheif is like noah and he will be saved from the flood or something. BUT the second ark also makes sense, i belive someone came so colse to mentioning it ealier, but you seem to be forgetting the other bible story about the ark of the covenant. the fact it has the name covenant in it is a massive giveaway, and it was a relic buried away somewhere on earth. im sorry for the reference to india jones here but in the raiders of the lost ark i believe the -blam!-s find it under the sand in egypt or somewhere else in africa, and they open it and KABOOM! massive blue lightning and all the evil people die.

thats food for thought
