Sigh
Halo 3 had:
Cod 4
WaW
MW2
Assassins Creed
GoW 2
ME/2
Among others. Late 2007-2009 was arguably the most active and successful span of time for video games, and Halo 3 only fell short of CoD 4 for a few weeks, WaW for 2 weeks afte release, and other than MW2, was almost always in the top spot. It never went under second. It was in the top 10 until August 2011.
Reach is struggling to stay in the top 10 and it's a year old.
Your comparing multiplayer games yet listing games that didn't have multiplayer.
You listed 7 games there, two of whitch didn't have multiplayer compared to when Reach was released and where every game released has a multiplayer element of some sort. Sure single player takes people away, but only for short periods. Multiplayer on the other hand takes players away for longer periods.
Even if Reach had been as good or better than Halo 2 or Halo 3 the amount of people playing a year later will never ever be as high as it was during Halo 2 & Halo 3.
Sure Halo Reach isn't as good as it's previous games, but blaming it soly on the fact it isn't as good as game is complete and utter naivety.
Reach is demise is down in part to not being as good, but mainly its down to the shift from mainly single player games towards every game having a multiplayer element.
