I dont think so, Gravemind seems to be centuries old, he must be the leader or first of the Flood, because he seems to know a lot about the rings and possibly the forrunners.

Johnson in the books was immune to the flood because of something that had happened to him before.

The Gravemind, we don't know how old it is. If in fact the Forerunners had activated the Halos wouldn't he have starved with the rest of the flood?

Johnson survived in the cryo tube on the Long Sword fighter MC took to get away from the explosion. Thats how he survived.

Well, he was on a Halo, so maybe he doesnt need to feed, since he isnt like the rest of the flood.

possible

I think gravemind is a combination of many people , human and alien

Maybe thats why he know so much.

Look for the back

I heard somewhere that when flood need to fly a ship or crusier they form a "brain" to fly it. They also do this for anything like a crusier. Flood get rid of the brain after they are done using it.

The flood erase the host's mind when they take over. Read the books and you'll know this to be true.

We dont know anything about Gravemind really, he might not need to feed. I dont see the Flood Captain Keyes transporting to another halo and getting that large in a matter of days in between halo 1 and 2.

Ugh... that was a joke, an "Easter Egg", as many would call it. Yes, Johnson still got enhanced by his disease and the Flood, yet he still wouldn't have been to survive an explosion of that calibur.

He really got off with Warrant Officer Polaski, but probably several minutes before that egg was shown.

Hmm the Gravemind is indeed mysterious... we know little about it. If in fact the Gravemind was Cap Keyes, it is only a theory, but ass you see Bungie has it's way of plaguing mysteries.

How could he be the Gravemind? Gravemind even said that he "listened, through rock and metal and time". A few days between games does not give you that much information.
