So I was reading that article that just appeared with the interview of Bungie's Senior Graphics Engineer, and from the way he was talking, it seemed like he was focusing on console graphics, though he appeared knowledgeable about PC graphics. (I don't know too much about this, so please correct me.) On the other hand, having (relatively) recently started college, playing on my PC is now significantly easier than playing on a console for a wide variety of reasons. Hence my question is: Would you like to see Bungie's next game released for PC, and related, how likely do you think that is? Or it would be even awesomer if they had a Linux version... I think I would explode with gooey happiness and gui'er (hehe) love for Bungie...

Your thoughts?

Edit: Oh crap, I forgot Macs, and certainly they've seen the Bungie love in the past...

Herp
Derp.

Do I want it, yes. Do I think it will happen, it's possible.

  • 12.27.2011 8:22 PM PDT

Don't want it, and it probably won't happen.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

My PC is not so good...

I am getting this bad boy though...

I hope this computer can handle a new PC Bungie game.

Not at the highest settings, but that does have a dedicated graphics processor.

I like to think that Asus can handle almost anything it can at decent levels.

It can play Crysis 2 on Ultra with 60 FRPS.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I'd love to see a PC version, though I'm not much of a PC gamer anymore.

Find me anywhere with Pogo947

Love it, don't think it will happen.

  • 12.27.2011 8:37 PM PDT

Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

No love for Mac gamers?

Anyways, considering the openings Bungie is advertising for, I'll be expecting them to stick with console gaming.

If they do what Dice did they would be smart and gods. Halo Reach's graphics were and still very good for a console game.

For Linux distros they would need to work with OpenGL, which I believe they are now with them supporting PS3. If they are using OpenGL then that would mean a PC version is certain and a Linux version could be tweaked to run on WINE since Windows' DirectX isn't the main target for all their platforms.

I don't know it's 4:41am I probably don't make any sense.

Oops :P
I've always wondered how hard it would be to port a Mac game to Linux... it can't be that hard can it? Valve has taken a lead with Mac Games, and certainly Bungie's roots lie in the Mac... the awesomest thing in the world is if they did a Mac and Linux port :D (hear that Bungie?!?! Do it!)

Could you clarify what you mean, what that is?

You're saying that the PS3 uses OpenGL? If so, then yes you're right. (Unfortunately I haven't had much success getting Steam to work with Wine...)

What with all the votes for "I don't want a PC version" it occurs to me that Bungie could gain a whole lot more fans, a much greater fan base, if they went the PC way. And a smaller but even more hardcore group of fans if they did Mac/Linux.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

Unfortunately, I'm still unable to play HL1 on my Mac laptop without software witchery.

Could you clarify what you mean, what that is?

Dice created BF3 PC first in mind then down to console. Meaning it runs awesome on PC and awesome on Console. The console version is simply a PC just running on a lower setting.

But some companies like Ubisoft or Bethesda say "Herp Derp console first then we port it". And the PC version sucks so bad.

I still have nightmares of From Dust on PC...

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I hope they make a Mac version. I won't play it on Mac, but the Mac never gets games anymore.

I hate Macs. :/

If it can be put on a Mac, it should also be on a PC.

Take Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soulblighter, Bungie had the disks "multiplatform" and you could do an install on both PC and Mac with the same disk.
