So how did you find out/get involved with Halo in the first place?

For me, I had seen a lot of info in websites and gaming mags, but it never got my attention because 1) it was a FPS and 2) it was only on Xbox, which I did not care to own. The only FPS I ever devoted any interest in was Goldeneye, and that was cause I liked how it interweaved with the movie's plot. So fast-forward to an issue of EGM dealing with the 50 Greatest Moments in Video Games, you know, stuff like when you found out Samus was really a chick, the first time a zombie dog jumped through a window in Resident Evil, whatever. Then I got to a bit on Halo. It talked about an enemy called The Flood, which sounded weird to me cause I had heard in passing that the enemy in the game was a group of aliens called the Covenant. So I read the blurb and I was intrigued at how the game's storyline has this interesting twist when they introduce a new enemy halfway through that behaves almost unlike any other enemy and I decided to check it. Sure enough, after a playthrough at a friend's house, I was hooked. The story totally rocked and I even bought the clear green Halo edition Xbox just for this game. Sure, I've picked up a few extra games since then, and I eventually got rid of my Gamecube and PS2, but Halo had just the right mix of story, graphics, and fun to keep me hooked.

I played it on my housemate's xbox the day it came out. At first I was bemused, then I was stunned.

My brother bought me an Xbox for a Christmas present. He also bought me a couple of games, neither of them very good. I was looking for another game and read reviews for XBox games on Amazon.com. I bought it and fell in love with it the moment it started up. THere was just a magic to it that I'd never felt before from a video game. I stayed up until like five in the morning playing it. Took a nap, then played all day until I finished it.

It was so amazing I wanted my friends to see it. They fell in love with it too. I didn't play online for a couple of months. I somehow stumbled onto something saying you could. It took me a while to figure out how to wire it up and get online. Once I did, I was hooked. Again I had my friends come over to try it. They didn't really want to play it online. They hadn't played any games online and didn't want to look like noobs. Well, we did look like noobs, but we had a blast. They started coming over every weekend and we'd play from ten in the morning to very late at night, then do it again the next day.

What made this possible was the aspect ratio. We could play split screen without problems. I played a little Halo 2 the past couple of days, the first time in a while. Even by myself on the whole TV I would get dissoriented when by a wall or trying to melee someone. It's just too zoomed in for me. Trying to play it split screen is a nightmare after being use to Halo 1. So, no more long days playing split screen, screaming and having fun. Playing with everyone at their own house just doesn't have the same magic. We've went back to Halo 1 on XBC, and it's so much more enjoyable.

You would think they would encourage people to have more than one person per box while playing H2. After all, it would be less laggy since not as many boxes would be talking to each other. Even the XBL system isn't really set up for people to do this. It took my friend a few weeks to find out how to bring his account over so we could play. Otherwise, you're stuck playing training games and can't even use your name. Of course, I can't use my name anyways. My name on XBC is Slayer, my friends Megadeth and Slaughter. We wanted something of a theme. Well, of course those names were taken on XBL, so we were kinda screwed right out of the blocks.

I was in Washington DC visiting my sister in college and I was over at her bfs frat house. They had a sexbox and halo so they hooked it up and let me play with them. That was like in March of 2003

It was my love of MGS2:Sons of Liberty. It was my favorite game at the time it came out, and every magazine I read about it loved it, but they always put one game ahead of it everytime. Halo. So out of pure distain for Halo, I tried it at a friends house hoping to find an overrated peice of crap. The next day I bought my own Xbox, and have been hooked on Halo since.

My mom was dating a certain guy at the time. SHE got HIS son Halo and his dad got him an xbox. We found a co-op option and played on easy or normal (was a longe time ago when it first came out) until we got stuck on 343 GS due to not paying attention to our surroundings. I played it every time we went ot their house...then we eventually got our own. Then procedded to practice this game (eventually doing continuous legendary runs) until Halo 2 came out...

I was a Sony boy at the time. I went over to a friends house for an end of the year party and he had a big Halo LAN set up. After that day, I started saving for the Halo Edition Xbox. It snowballed from there.

I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.

I was at the time a Nintendo fan (my how I regret those three years I could have had an Xbox), and several of my friends had this game called Halo. I didn't want to play it, since I really wasn't that into shooters, but they nagged at me enough to where I tried it. We only played the Pillar of Autumn, and I sucked at it. It did open my eyes however to the fact that there was this incredible science fiction tale sitting on store shelves and I had no access to it. So I bought the book. I have since fallen in love with the story and am a proud owner of an Xbox, both Halo games, and all three novels.

i had it worst of all of you. i waited till 2005 to play it. at first i thot it was just another shootemup game so i didnt care for it much. then it started getting really popular. by then i still had a very small interest in it. then halo 2 came out and that made it even more popular. mild interest then. then i decided i wanted to play it. 1 more thing i had to overcome. my dad. it took forever to convince him to let me play. first time i played was at a friends house. then we went there again and i played it again. then i asked for an xbox, halo and, halo 2. i got the xbox and halo. beat it in 2 days. the next day i bought halo 2 and beat it in 2 days as well. and now im a halo freak
