Well, as of yet again i was watching the video for the twentieth time. In a earlier thread, someone noticed that a light blinked in the cheif's visor, this light was used to communicate with other spartans in the books.

Just as the Banshees flew by him, that light flashed. This also explains why they didn't smelt MC and he didn't rip them apart either.

Perhaps they are up to some operation?

I brought this up because i have never seen anyone combine the two bits of evidence.

Maybe the light was a reflection from a Covenant ship or a banshee's boosters?

nope, it flashed for a split a split second before the banshees flew by. If it was a reactor, it would have shone longer and it would have reflected off his visor, by th elooks of it the light came from INSIDE his visor, which shows that

The other spartans have returned.

Look for the back

maybe a flash of lightning. Lets not jump to conclussions

Simple explanation: Maybe it's lightning? just seems intuitive

I think the Halo franchise has pretty concretely established that the MC is the only Spartan involved in the games. The books need more intrigue and characters, but the authors have always found ways to keep them from being factors. Just tossing in the other Spartans would throw off the majority of players who don't read the books any way.

Oh, and the trailer was put together real time just for E3, so anything plot related wasn't just a slip from an in-game cutscene. And with Bungie being so uptight with details, they wouldn't make the trailer with stuff like that in it.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite airstrike.

I saw it too...the Brutes are so screwed.

There where 2 lights btw. First flashes twice then one that seems higher up flashes once. The 1st one may be telling MC how many Spartans there are, and the 2nd telling MC that his suit is relaying his postion to the other Spartans.

Or, there are 2 Spartans due North and another North East. I don;t have the books so help clarify this idea.

EDIT: I just read the threoys on the lightning: you may be right. There was a large circular storm above the Ark, and there is lightning when you look at it.

Well Bungie have said on a few occassions that the books dont neccesarily relate to the games, in that they are not canon per say! And yeah! I think we need to chill out! It could have been a cloud of air rising from MC's pants that distorted his visor and therefore appeared to be a light flashing! Its only an announce trailer! None of that trailer will probably make it into the game!

No offence but thats the most retarded thing i have ever heard

At 1:23 you can see that an Elite's feet sticking out. They saw the Chief but didn't open fire, mostly likely because they will be allies.

  • 05.10.2006 4:05 PM PDT

Okay, the Covenant did not side with the Master Chief. If they did, why did they destroy Earth's defenses? The pilots were part of a fleet led by the Prophet of Truth. Do you think the Prophet is on the Chief's side? Probably not.

the only way i can disprove the communication theory is the fact that it looks to be the reflection of the grav-lift on the bottom of the flag ship on chiefs visor...but im not sure...it seems to be reflected...

think about it. both flashes take place on the visor right where there is a shadow of a ship...then one more off screen.

I think the first two flashes were reflections...but the final one i can't de-bunk!

if u can manage to pause the video as soon as it flashes, u will see that its in the MIDDLE of his viosr, i know for a fact it was in the right corner (books)...plus, in the same spot, before it flashes u can see a circle thing, after the banshes fly by MC and the camera turns, there is a CIRCULAR hole in the cloud and the lighnting is coming out of it, , but i wouldnt mind seeing the other spartans come back

EDIT: if you guys are talking about the blue spot on his visor when he turns to look at the banshees, that i just a reflection, it never blinks, so yeah, but i doubt its the blue light, but it might be

Even though I paused the darn thing numerous times to actually see if anyone in the banshees are present, which they are not, the chief's visor did indeed have the blue aknowledgement flash in the upper left hand corner (his right side) just like the books. As much as i'd like to see the other spartans return, it's much more likely he's cooperating with eiltes. I can go off on a tangent as to what that may mean, but the only thing for sure is that the banshees communicated with John as they apporached and flew past.

That actually makes sense! Also, in the book the fall of reach they did a simalar operation. The flew covanant banshees over a huge army of covanat and threw other banshees and capitial ships...But then the covanat tried to communitcate with the spartans and they went into combat.
