I just don't understand why you'd care about something that's so intensely trivial.
Because it takes up time. One of the webteam years ago said something along the lines of... 'if a user hovers over the bar and nothing happens for over .5 seconds, they'll think nothing will happen and get frustrated.' It's a matter of time. When someone puts their text first, they're making us read it out of context. Then we either have to skip to the quote first, if we realize what is going on fast enough, or reread the text in order to read it in context. It's an annoyance. It takes up time, however minimal. And I see no good reason to do it text first. You can see the text in your post history? Um... whoopie? I said good reason.
A big deal? Not in the slightest. But a minor annoyance due to how we have to waste our time (again, the amount doesn't matter)? Meh.
I agree. While the issue certainly isn't a major one, it is irritating, as it does waste time. A large number of people's good reason to post above a quote appears to be that they find it easier to do, but, overall, I can't see that benefiting the member. They still waste time rereading their posts, assuming they do so, as well as when reading other like-minded members' posts.
