I think it becomes confusing when I'm trying to delete parts from a quote pyramid.

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

This. Nothing more worse than getting an awkward [/quote] in the middle of nowhere.

The reason people put their text up here:

quote

Is because it's the default option and they're too lazy to put it down here. You can ignore any of their other justifications because they're lying to you and don't want to admit it.

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

You must not use your recent post history to call it a "stupid reason". Because when I first tried it, I could see the difference.

Posting above the quote lets you see your post easier in your search history.
stupid reason.

Quoting above is the most logical thing to do and the so-called "pros" to quoting below are laughable besides "it's easier" (which is just pathetic).

I don't know man, if you're too braindead to treat something so simple as if it was metal acrobatics, then you should probably go get evaluated somewhere, because you might not be up-to-scratch.

God dammit I hate all of the -blam!-s that do that. If there is one thing that pisses me off more than anything in this world, it's people who post above a quote. Hey mother -blam!-, we read from top to bottom in this world. Get your head on straight, jackass. And -blam!- Achronos for doing it, and having all of the -blam!-es in this forum sackride him.

  • 12.28.2011 11:12 PM PDT

Haha, I didn't necessarily follow you, but I saw that you posted so I figured I'd see what you said. I lol'd at your vehemence over something so trivial.

I'm torn halfway between disappointment and admiration. That was a ballsy, although generally inaccurate and stupid, post.

And I called it. Figured you'd follow me over here, trying to defend your insanity.

I don't care I still know they are repling ir quoting someone else thats all that matters.

I see no problem with this. I like to read the reply first before the question. It makes it that much more challenging and fun for your brain. Plus, it all makes sense in the end.

  • 12.28.2011 11:25 PM PDT

Sometimes I forget to hit quote, so it could turn out either way. It's what makes me awesome.

Many other people are bothered by this. I don't really see a good reason to be bothered though.

The quoting system is set up so that you're either following lines of a quote pyramid closely to figure out who posted what, or you're reading each post bottom to top. I don't see how either way could be a problem, if you only quoted a two or three post quote pyramid; unless you get two people that post on the different side having a conversation.

To prevent confusion in such cases (of two people having a different quote style preference), I like to either set their post up to follow my quote preference, quote in the same style as who I quoted, and or or delete unnecessary quotes.

Frog blast the vent core.

I tweet?

Yeah, well this puts me over the top... of your post.

My text first is the only logical thing.
This is something I've seen a few users who use quotes incorrectly say (including the originator himself, Achronos) but I'm still yet to see them actually explain how it is logical or beneficial.

There's a couple of weak reasons like "I'm too lazy to delete the space at the top, so I just type in it" or "It makes reading your post history easier".

But those don't really matter when you look at the cons, which is the fact it makes even the most basic conversation harder to read and is just plain messy/stupid.

Out of all the weird habits people have on this site, this is by far the worst.

Top posting frustrates the normal flow of information. If I do not recognize the top posters avatar, I typically refuse to read their post. They make it so you have to scroll back to the top of a 5 quoted post, often times to see something that I didn't need to read anyhow. It wastes my time, and I don't appreciate that. If a normal bottom post is nonsensical in nature, at least I can continue on my way down past it uninterrupted.

It has also struck me that top posting appears to make the top poster 'above' everyone's comments that they quoted (aka: I posted on top of you, I'm better than you...)
It just always looked that way to me, and many top posters did/do post with those type of comments. So they were deemed by me to be not worth my time to read. Still holds true today.

LOLERCAUST! I can not BLAM believe this thread stayed close to the top! FTR the bottom is the way to go you see the quote box the quote and the direct response after that. versus the top looks like it could be a different post or something else entirely! bottoms rule!!! *celabratory squats*

Now it's incorrect? When the webteam does it it's incorrect?

Completely incorrect and nonsensical, yes. This is the only site I've ever seen that has the trend. I mean, come on guys, on what planet does leaving the context to last seem logical?

Often times you'll start reading a post then have to stop, look down to see what they've actually quoted (even worse when it's a big post and you have to scroll) so that you understand what exactly they are replying to, and then start reading their post again.

I was literally considering a poll with this question. To the best of my memory, back in 2007/2008 before I went AFK, nobody did the second/ugg way. Why do people do it? It makes no sense.

Because Achronos did it first. Anything he does or says is sackridden intensely.

If Achronos started putting the quotes on top, the entire 'fad' would disappear.
