Subject: Why are bad players so good at throwing grenades?

Title for reference.

  • 12.28.2011 9:52 AM PDT

No idea, but they really are. They always run at me in a straight line and throw 1 or 2 grenades that either explode right in my face, because I happen to shoot them or they bounce off my body and land right at my feet.

Always up for REACH customs!

The real question is this: why are good players so bad at avoiding grenades?

I like how frags are more like power weapons in Reach than the firecrackers they were in H3.

When you need someone who is at least half-decent at Halo, I'm your guy.

I'm the Professor-in-Chief at N00b Incorporated, and I believe I have a solution to this problem.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

So I'm sitting at ring 2 and our team has control of Asylum and I'm watch the other teams sniper bridge entrance form a safe angle. Then all of a sudden a grenade flies in from their rock jump up, bounces twice on the wall and goes straight for my face.

My shield is down and I've taken health damage.

I start attempting to retreat down our rock jump and a new made flies in straight through their rock jump towards my new location and it kills me.

How the Hell can two different people throw perfect nades on me when they can't see me?

This isn't Halo:Softball though. Grenades explode too quickly for us to avoid them and the bouncing is all weird.

Halo 3 had it right.

Two makes there more than speakers.

They aren't, the Grenades are OP.

  • 12.28.2011 10:03 AM PDT

Because being genuinely bad at something forces you either to better or compensate for your weakness in another way. Spamming nades is a go-around for those with not enough skill/dedication/desire to get better at aiming.

Noob is bad at outshooting the opponent ---> decides to spam grenades instead ---> rinse & repeat ---> get better over time.

i only play it when a friend of mine i know IRL is on reach, he isnt good but i <3 him.

  • 12.28.2011 10:05 AM PDT

So you're saying Im good because I'm a grenade magnet?

I unno though. It seems sometimes that a single grenade twenty feet away will kill me with full shields, while sometimes sticking someone on their dome only tickles. I blame my region for having such -blam!- internet service.

You can get much further with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

awwww. You're a nice guy.

OT: I hate it when they rush you to melee and throw a grenade.

Truth. If you're good, you'll be able to avoid them. I'm godawful and even I can tilt the left thumbstick a little backward to back out of the blast radius.

Wish you'd teach me the secret. I hold back, jump, and jetpack away from nades and still take my full shield and 2/3rds health damage.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

See where the grenade is coming from? I know this sounds crazy, but run toward that path.

Chances are, if the grenade lands right next to you, it'll bounce a bit farther past you. If you run forward, you'll put the most amount of distance between yourself and the explosion.

If that doesn't work, then maybe I'm just lucky as all hell.

Your presence here is quite unneeded. Begone you!!!

There is a difference between good nade placements and blind luck.

  • 12.28.2011 10:51 AM PDT

Bad players are good at getting away from grenades by throwing them directly at your feet.

I realllllllllly hate when I toss a grenade at a guy I know has taken shield damage and he walks over the thing like the freaking terminator and casually tosses a grenade at me that explodes seven feet away with the apparent force of an atomic bomb.

I have to say; that sounds extremely badass.

You don't agree, of course.
