Subject: Primordium ~ Chapters 1-4 discussion

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The first four chapters of Primordium have been released:

Prologue and Chapter 1
Chapters 2, 3 and 4

- It seems like this may be directly tied with The Return when the Shipmaster sees that humanity have discovered a mysterious artefact, the memory unit of Chakas may be exactly that. However, he says that the science officer seems to have been on a Halo.

- Humanity know about the Didact.

- It is seemingly confirmed that humanity were the ones who imprisoned the Timeless One on Charum Hakkor.

- H0mo floresiensis (aka 'Hobbits') are chamanune - Riser's sub-species of human.

- The Forerunners have put a whole society of humanity (many various sub-species) on the Halo Ring, they are taken to the Palace of Pain.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

One of my theory's is already confirmed in the first few paragraphs. Though i am going to wait until i read the entire book before taking more steps.

**Edit, Don't label humans imprisoning the captive as confirmed just yet.

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

Why are you so interested in the Didact? Is he proving to be a difficulty to humans once again? Astonishing.Bam. Didact as enemy in Halo 4-6? Looking like we might be on a road to confirming my theory.

It's too early to make complete judgements based off of 3 sentences, but that excites me a little. I'll definitely have to read the entire work once it is out.

Indeed, seems like we will have alot of info to make up new theory's.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

O-O I'l just wait to read the entire book first.
Cant wait for the new theory's to start though.

Wow, the first 4 chapters are absolutely amazing. Written much better than the opening of Cryptum and with far more detailed description.

Could be too that were just used to his style of writing now and were accustomed to the terms and premise of the story (its not something totally new thrown at you anymore)

Either way i am totally siked as well and want the full novel asap!

- The Forerunners have put a whole society of humanity (many various sub-species) on the Halo Ring, they are taken to the Palace of Pain.

I'm curious about this. I wonder what they're doing to the humans and why. And the Palace of Pain? I wonder what kind of torture is conducted there.

I reckon that they're experimenting on humanity to try and recreate the lost Flood cure (Vinnevra says that humans are treated as if they are animals in an eco-system), I read an excerpt last week saying that the Timeless One was in the Palace with the Flood, so it seems that this may be the start of the formation of the Gravemind? Therefore the Halo Chakas is on is Installation 05.

We do know the librarian took human samples decades before cryptum, I had always assumed they could be some of them. Only issue is that them seem to have been recently brought to the location.

I think we are seeing a rebel forerunner faction. This "Palace of Pain" is where they are forcefully seeking out a cure for the flood and using humans as test subjects. In contrast to the librarian that was passively looking for a cure.

Some quick thinking. I am more concerned with the fact the humans only recently locked that beast up. That means he was walking about Hakkor before hand doing Who knows what.

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

It's weird that the ancient Humans didn't knew anything that their ancestors locked up the TO,but hey it's just like the Forerunners not remembering their war with the Precursors.

What the hell could have happened in the past that everyone has forgotten their ancient history.

And why is ONI so intrested in the Didact?
Return of the Didact in Halo 4 would be pure win.

If so, then those Delta Halo Ruins really could be Human Ruins. For instance, from that deserted city Chakas saw.

I often look at the multiplayer maps for Anniversary as reference to potential locations that will be discussed or seen in later installments. The multiplayer map Timberland/Ridgeline takes place on Installation .05, not .04 as you would normally suspect. Instead of Threshold, you see the blue planet Substance in the sky. And in the distance, a large Forerunner palace-like structure.

Why set the map on Insallation .05? It could be a clue, which means yes, they are on Installation .05.

Also, someone managed to get the book early through a preorder screw up. From what I read of his posts on halo.xbox.com, the Primordial is hearding thousands of humans into the Palace to turn them into the Flood. The Primordial, by some means that I either missed the explanation of or wasn't explained in the quoted passage, floats above the cattle-like humans as they walk to their doom, hearding them, all the while accompanied by a shimmering green light, most likely Medicant.

There were so many humans, their combined weight and walking kicked up a massive dust cloud that obscured them and the Primordial.

Unless Threshold managed to turn itself blue then the person who wrote that must of made a mistake.

The description of the map in the game says the same thing. This is what Threshold looks like in CEA, it may simply be the lighting that makes it appear blue.

You both do see where I'm getting at though right? I thought the exact same thing, until I saw Substance, not Threshold in the sky box. Either, as Sniffy said, they made a mistake, or they didn't want to draw attention to the possibilities that easily.

Edit: It could just as well be the lighting though, as you say above. Who knows, just thought it was interesting.

Edit 2: Just went into the game. It doesn't say Installation .04, it just says it was a staging area.

I'm looking at the planet right now. It's outlined in blue atmosphere, and not a hint of it looks orange/purple. If you look in the lower right corner, you can see a patch of sea-blue coloring. From what I can see of the planet, this looks like Installation .05.

Edit: I'm also going to point out that Chaks is evidently within walking distance--over a span of days, no doubt--of the Palace. He says he's on the far side of the Ring (far right side was it?) Well, if you look at the Ridgeline map and the arching band in the horizon, you'll notice that you are very far to the right side of the Ring.

Also, The Mona Lisa makes Threshold blue. This seems to be like a Mass Effect case, when you're scrolling around the Galaxy Map and look at a planet it appears to be one colour but as you zoom in closer to it you see it's actually a different colour. IDK but it just seems a little silly for 343 to intentionally lie to everyone about whether it's Installation 04 or 5.
