Ok, so way back at the end of halo 2 Truth tells tatarus (spelling?) to activate Delta Halo but leaves! If Truth is so close to his great journey, why would he leave and not ensure the process was completed correctly? Instead he takes his forerunner ship to Earth.

Now the real theory

Every Halo has an index to activate it right, what if the Ark functions the same way but on a larger scale? The ship Truth leaves in looks kinda like a key that could fit into the gate of the ark and activate ALL the Halo rings (they were on standbye status at the end of H2) just like a big index! It would require a forerunner ship to ensure that not just anybody (flood, human, covenant ect.) activated the rings and that only the forerunners could use it as a haven against the flood.

Why would he do this if he is so close to his journey?

Well, he obviously wants to survive the Halos activation. Maybe for him, the ark is the REAL great journey. This would explain why he wants to capture Earth instead of just glass it, it would make finding the ark a LOT harder. Mercy says that Truth is going to earth to "finish what we started." By we he means the prophets and they are trying to start the great journey for themselves.

Just my theory

the structure is the remote activation device that fires all the halos. mark those words. Guilty spark said that "in the event of an accidental shutdown" the remote activation device would become active. at the same time, the fight returns to Earth! coincidence, i think NOT!

I said this yesterday. The arc acts as a key to the forerunner structure trigger the ultimate weapon of forerunner design. Perhaps firing all halos, perhaps releasing long-hidden flood on Earth, perhaps something worse.

something worse...

I didn't see you post it, my bad!

a question - why would the forerunners assume the flood couldn't get onto the ark and make it so easy that they only have to sneak aboard a ship to get on?
