This has been bothering me, how did they get that big hole in the ground? Because for some reason I don't think a slipspace rupture would do that. They would have to have something smaller.......a Scarab Mine Digger. That explains why there we're so many ships...and all Capital Ship class. Because they might be the only ships to have them.

And thats why those two other ships we're down in the pit. because they had to get the Scarabs,

Er, no offence, but why does it matter? I'm pretty sure if someone can master space technology they can dig a huge pit.

Still a slipspace rupture probably couldn't do that. Maybe bring down a city....but not a big hole that's probably 5+ miles in diameter.

Not what I was going for.. lol, I'm pretty sure it just blew everything up, they came back and dug the hole with who knows what... slave labour, unicorns... lasers...

I do believe that in First Strike, it mentioned something about the Covenant doing some mining by using the heated plasms off their ships' weapons. Might be mistaken though. That was on Reach I think. And if I had to guess, after all the Spartans ditched Reach, thats when the Covenant got hold of the coordinates for The Ark a.k.a. Earth.

Unicorns would be right. Unicorns have been known to dig holes up to 4 miles wide and 2 miles deep in under 24 hours. It is scientifically proven!

Yeah I think a combined effort from the 20+ ships and the Scarab Diggers made the hole.

They dug that hole with a particle beam consiting of 254 terra-electron-volt anti top quarks. It's obvious. Idiot.

Remember in halo 2 at the last cut scene the halo activated well the hole to me looks like it might be another halo.it said that they found something in the african sands.it makes more sence to think that maybe the humans were the forerunners of halo and built un extra one.

CJ explains, "It is the Chief, back on a devastated and Covenant controlled Earth, standing over the excavation of a structure buried in the crust of our own planet that is the meat of our demo."
