Subject: CE isnt a classic because its good

I was always under the impression that by the year 2552 the battle was more about stopping the covenant from activating the rings.

If the war had been going on for ages before that why didnt the covenant attempt to activate the rings before?

"By 2552" nobody had yet discovered any Halo rings. It isn't until September of that year that the PoA and its Covenant assailants happen across Alpha Halo. And Halo 3's battles happen only 3 months later.

As for the Battle of Earth making any strategic sense for the UNSC, how doesn't it? During ODST, the UNSC had no idea where Regret's carrier had jumped to.

Saves people having to explain. Mark V read that and you'll understand. The Halo's were only relevant due to their discovery in Halo CE, the Covenants goal was wiping out humanity as they were an affront to the gods (false as the prophets knew Humans were Reclaimers) and to 'light the sacred rings' for the great journey. They only found Alpha Halo in CE, Delta Halo itself like Alpha Halo was a complete accident too. After interrogating 343 Guilty Spark, the Prophets knew about the Ark and thus that's when the Rings become more crucial to the fight for Earth.

I didn't read past the 5th sentence because I refused to waste any more time of my life. That's probably one of the stupidest things I've ever read. You obviously have know appreciation for the classic games. If you don't like the game, then why are you in it's forums. Leave now, and never come back.

I made it to express an opinion (inb4keep your opinions to yourself because we're biased and cant accept difference of opinion) and i have the right to do so, i couldnt really care less what responses i get, most are from biased, ignorant fanboy hipsters anyway

I made it to express an opinion (inb4keep your opinions to yourself because we're biased and cant accept difference of opinion)

Then why do you continue to post that everyone who disagrees with you is a nostalgic hipster fanboy, as though it were a statement of fact? And if you are just trying to express an opinion, rather than aggressively try to push something you believe to be absolutely true upon others, why did you post three separate threads about the same thing?

You can claim to be annoyed with us for not respecting differences of opinion, and to some extent that's probably true. But you also seem to be holding yourself to a much more lenient standard.

  • 01.01.2012 1:01 PM PDT

I am a firm believer that when bungie makes you spawn with a pistol, kill someone with a rocket launcher.

- Respect your fellow members, or at least tolerate them publicly. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, even if they probably deserve it.

-achronos

Lolz, this goes for both sides. BTW, halo ftw!!!

-edit: I can recite forum rules like the pope can recite bible verses.....lolz.

all the levels are mazes apart from the Library
This disturbs me.

Why? because it was the biggest maze of the CMP?

  • 01.01.2012 6:38 PM PDT

I disagree with OP, and would rather say that not much have changed since Halo:CE, and that the game still holds up well today. It's even better than most new FPS that get released.
Today it seems games focuses more on scripting, cutscenes, quicktime events and story, rather than making a game that is fun to play (dynamic gameplay). Even Reach went more into that direction which is one reason i was glad Bungie stopped making Halo, it just wasn't as good as the previous games.

I wish i could say that nobody thinks that Cod have a great campaign as it is the mother of scriptedness, but that is obviously, and somewhat sadly not true.

And probably the reason why MarkIV dislikes Halo?

No, because 343 Guilty Spark is the only maze.

The Library just has a bunch of dead ends and stuff. 343 is where that scary horror comes in. I mean there goes my freaking elevator. How the hell am I supposed to get back up there?! Hey another elevator. I wonder what this button does. What?! It's-it's going down?!! NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!

Also, I get lost on that level so many times even today. So many doors!!!

It's even worse when the scripting is very noticeable. Every time Noble Team becomes inactive, somebody dies. In H2 and H3, although the AI went to their positions, they still had active AI so if you betrayed, they would kill you. In Reach, I can kill as many as I want and Noble Team won't do anything about it.

Sure, in CE, on T&R, I can kill the marines at the beginning but they will eventually get out of their positions and attack me (IIRC).

Go play your overrated, over-scripted, and unbalanced garbage of a game called MW3.
